Metal Tech 2008-2014 200 Series Land Cruiser Ghost Rider Front Bumper Stage 3

The Ghost Rider front bumper for the 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser is the first full bull bar designed, engineered, and hand built in the USA.

It provides excellent approach angle and critical head light protection giving you confidence while out in the back country. From the driver's position you are able to just see the outermost corners of the hoop giving you confidence on where the outer edge of the bumper is for tight trails.

The bumper is a two part design with our winch mounting system independent of the bumper shell for an easy installation. The winch mount is installed first, then the winch can be installed and wired without having to lift an entire bumper with a winch mounted to it. The bumper shell then attaches to the winch mount allowing for a custom fit to your vehicle body.

We include provision for up to a 12,000lb winch with access for the clutch and solenoid. Integrated 3/4" recovery points are mechanically interlocked through the shell and tied to the winch mount inline with the frame for confident rigging.

There are laser cut openings for LED flange mount fog lights, (included with stage 2), and for a 30" single row LED spot/flood combo light bar, (included with stage 3).

The outer ends of the bumper shell next to the fender have tabs to secure your fender liner preventing it from bending back into your tires.

The hoop is made from mandrel bent DOM-SRA tubing providing full surround front end protection for the hood and headlights. On the outer edges of the hoop are welded tabs providing mounting location for limb risers or antennas.

We value the factory safety and convenience systems from Toyota and have designed the Ghost Rider to work with these systems maintaining stock functionality. We provide laser cut holes for the front parking sensors to mount. The center hoop of the bumper does not obstruct the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control or the forward facing camera. The bumper also allows you to keep your head light sprayers in their factory location.

Features:
  • Winch ready two part bumper mounting system supports 12,000lb winches
  • Winch clutch easy access
  • Integrated 3/4" pull points mechanically locked into winch mount
  • DOM-SRA steel tubing Hoops protecting headlights
  • Accessory Tabs for Limb Risers or Antennas
  • Powder Coated textured black
  • Laser cut LED fog light pockets
  • Laser cut LED center 30" single row light bar pocket
  • Installation requires modification of the front bumper plastic
  • Included two OPOR 20w LED fog lights
  • Included two Deutsch to OEM Toyota fog light plugs
  • Included OPOR 30" single row 90w LED spot/flood combo light bar with harness and switch

That my truck in the product pics. Very happy with the bumper! My comments:
  • From a user-install standpoint this one couldn’t be easier. It’s 100% overlap. Give your kid a cutoff wheel and it will still look good.
  • Front recover points that pass through to the frame and are reinforced with a draw bolt.
  • High approach angle. The bumper is very tight up against the front. Yes, this does put the fair lead down, but with a flat link you don’t have risk of line damage.
  • It’s solid. Unlike the Ironman on my 100 I get no bumper vibrations on the trail or on the road.
  • The winch cradle accommodates a 12k Come-Up with control box attached.
Happy to post other pics or answer questions.

Just curious... If it fits a '14, why not a '15? Aren't they identical?

Can you post pictures of how it mounts to the frame? Also, what hardware is used to attach to the frame?

Speaking for MT, it most likely will fit all years including LX, just needs a test fit on the facelift to be certain. Also front camera requires no relocation; you can barely see it as skinny as it is in depth. Happy to give that screen shot as well.

Absolutely. Almost no bandwidth at Expo so it might be later tomorrow.

Mounting pic as requested. The draw bar uses the frame windows for robust pulling strength.

Overall, it was greatly received at Expo West. The most comments were around how clean the fitment is and how easy it is to install with the cut tucking behind the shell.

I had a chance to look at the bumper in person yesterday. It looks very well build. amazing how much it tucks up to the front of the truck.
Having the new bumper overlap the top 2" or so of the original plastic is a creative approach that looks really good in person. also seems to alleviate the concern of bumper to fender contact when wheeling.
the skin is thin, but gusseted on the backside. MT is using the fog light pockets as an integral part of the structure. they add a 3 dimentional aspect to the shell that is used to support the stiffeners welded to the back side.
I spoke with @OregonLC for a bit about the design and their intent with the construction.
it has been drawn up in SolidWorks and gone through finite element analysis (FEA) to ensure proper strength.
will in crumple in a wreck, yes. will it survive contact with rocks/dirt/trees on the trail, the MT guys put it to the test in Moab on the way out to Expo. Didn't seem phased by it at all.

Connectivity at expo was zilch, I mean less than 3g one bar you might get a text notification an hour later. hopefully more pics will be posted up, along with some action shots.
it is a great looking bumper in person. IMO.

That is exciting news, I just shot MT an email asking about LX fitment. I like the design and aesthetics about 100X more than the ARB. Have loved everything from MT I had on my FJ and would love to send some more business their way on my LX build!

To follow up, John at MetalTch promptly replied to my inquiry and said they have not test fit the bumper on an LX570, however if anyone is local and could drop their truck off for a day they can scan the truck into their CAD system and do a virtual fit.

At that point they can either confirm this fits or they need to design an LX570 specific version.

Anyone near MetalTech that is willing to donate their truck for a day???

I know the owner of MetalTech well and am happy to have him check out my ride one of these days.

Yes Please! Could you email me chris@metaltech4x4.com so I have your contact info? We need an LX570 for bumper and slider prototype test fitting. Thank you!

-Chris

Yes that would be great! We are hoping to bring the 200 Series out to the NWOR too!

Who's would that be? ;-) Yes, I'm planning to bring Herc up for the show.

Just shot an email to MT4x4 volunteering my LX570 for bumper design. I've attached an idea I've been noodling for a while that is a bumper insert vs. a full bumper.
