Have you driven on the highway at 80+mph??? Hear any new or strange wind noises etc. ???

Thanks

P.S. I hope it not a lease...LOL...

Yes I drove 75 on the highway today and it made no new noises.... the bumper is solid as ever.

Haha and no it’s not a lease :)

Headed to the bumper chop proving grounds today and it worked exactly as planned.

@FlightMedic178 what are your impressions for the KM3s?
Love them. I have about 15k miles on them so far and they take a lot of abuse with no issues. Great traction in mud, deep snow, dirt and sand dunes. Haven’t got stuck yet and I’ve totally tried. Haha
Also, I had KM2s on my Tacoma and they were about spent after 30k with a lot of uneven wear. The KM3s don’t seem to have that issue.... yet

Wish you posted this a little earlier...Not sure if it would have saved me though. I ended up finding an almost new steel rear bumper for sale in the classifieds, so it all worked out. I would encourage anyone with stock bumpers who wheels their 200 hard to follow @FlightMedic178 's lead on this. Nice work!!

Did you at least avoid taillight damage? Seems like I read on someone’s rig abusing the bumper did more damage than just the tupperware..

I have not seen any new damage on the taillights from this trip. In Tahuya State Forest (Events/Trails - DeGen19 - PNW/Vancouver B.C.) I got a tiny crack in on of the lenses. Couldn't figure out if this was from hitting a branch or from something else.

This weekend I'm going to hit the bumper with a heat gun and see if I can get it back into shape before my steel bumper install.

Just occurred to me.. are you worried about the new edge catching on stuff and pulling back/up vs just kinda sliding over things?

I did catch the other day on a dirt hill and it bent it out but immediately went back without even a mark. It might be an issue on jagged rocks but I think smooth rocks and dirt it’ll be fine.

This hill is a 2 foot drop with an immediate 4 foot upslope.

Great mod and write-up!

Well done indeed looks great. Having no plans for a rear metal swing out bumper myself this is an idea I can get behind. I am interested in what you and your welder come up with as a bumper slider solution. I can definitely see how that would help in situations where the tupperware could get caught on something.

Chopped resonator question ? Does the exhaust system sound better or louder?

I can tell no difference at all, even with windows down.
That’s awesome especially if there’s no drone on the highway. I also like that the resonator removal saves weight and depending on what you come up with for a rear bumper skid it may be a break even or just a minor weight gain. Very cool...

Edit: I know not many worry about weight but every little bit helps.

This is great - thanks for trail-blazing this mod!
