Ok. So it’s a DD and a tow rig but......it’s a Land Cruiser so.......

mild build is a go so she doesn’t look like all the soccer moms. Here is what we are starting with.

2008 with 111K when we picked it up.

Also doing some little stuff. Replaced the reverse lights with LED and the DRL/ high beams were dim so I replaced them with the Sylvania silver star ultras and the burnt out parking lamp with the Sylvania bulbs also.

This is the next step. Ironman 4x4 2” lift. BTW my UPS and Fed X guy probably hate me by now!

Ha ha. Yes.

The other day, the UPS guy did not even want to lift the Dobinson springs out of the truck. They are the heavy duty 4" rear springs so they weighed several pounds more than the Ironman springs that have been on the truck since '02, so maybe he was worn down by all the holiday deliveries. I did enjoy the look on his face when I flipped the box onto my shoulder and walked over to the shop with them.

Keep the posts coming on your progress.

Looks like we'll be doing the lift on Feb 1st at Davids if anyone wants to swing by. I need to do a little work on the 40 also but that will be another day. Ordered the Trail Gear heavy duty Hub Stud kit. I've broken several over the years and recently 2 more at Uwharrie. Hopefully these are as strong as advertised.

Have the same bar on the Sequoia. It has held up fine for a few years but developed some heavy rust on one end where moisture may have been trapped.

Looks good.

This one is aluminum. The welds actually look really good. I was impressed considering it pretty Inexpensive. I didn’t want to spend a lot because down the road I may end up swapping out the front bumper anyway.

When I got this I wasn’t sure if I was wasting money or not. I’m really glad I got it. I put in LED bulbs in all the turn signals, reverse light, and the interior lights. This handles the LEDs so I don’t have to use multiple resisters. I also really like hat you can program features. I like the turn signal feature where you just tap the turn signal and it blinks however many times you programmed and then stops, like most newer cars do.

David and I got the 2” Iron Man lift installed yesterday! I am extremely happy with it so far. Thank you 6 lb 8 oz baby Jesus the KDSS valves weren’t frozen. They didn’t move without a fight and some PB blaster but in the end they relented. Also really glad David has all the tools and lift. I can’t imagine trying to do this on jack stands. I’m also glad he has a friend with an auto repair shop. We tried doing the front springs with a spring compressor I had ordered. After scratching up a spring and thinking we were going to die, we took the front springs and had them assembled on a commercial spring compressor. If you are going to tackle this lift make sure to clear your schedule for the day. Even with David’s expertises as a former professional mechanic it took all day. Of course it probably could have gone faster if he wasn’t teaching me what to do and explaining things along the way. On mud it’s pics or it didn’t happen so here you go.

Wasn’t sure when the last oil change was on the truck so we went ahead and did one for good measure. Did a few “upgrades”while we were at it. Mobile 1 full synthetic, TRD oil filter, swapped the plastic cartridge cap for an aluminum one , and added the drain valve. And while we were at it we replaced a bunch of bolts that were missing from the skid plate that had been left off during previous servicing by the PO or dealership.

The new rack came in! Gamiviti is serious about their crates. The rack was well protected. FYI. Saved about $100 on shipping by picking the rack up at the terminal on Daniel Island instead of having it delivered to the house.
