a salute to all, someone of you has mounted the kit upsets on the 1hz? you have had some problem? demage?? what kit you have mounted?

a well-designed kit, driven sanely, should be fine

psi isn't the main concern, egts are.
you can be running 8 lbs of boost and be running 1600F on the hills.
or you could be running 14 psi and 1100F on the hills
which will last longer?

personally i like 14 as a max but i know guys running more... over 14 and you need an intercooler. (which is a good idea anyway.)

Extra air that that doesn't have fuel to work with simply acts to cool the engine.

Over about 12PSI you want to start thinking about an intercooler to cool down the heat generated by the air being compressed.

As Wayne stated, it's more about EGTs than anything else.

Why do factory turbocharged diesels typically have lower compression ratios than normally aspirated diesels? Can this just be ignored when turbocharging a 1HZ?

you have the high comp and turbo so the high come is good for low down grunt and turbo to go hard for the rest
factory turbos have less compression so they dont have as much initail low down grunt as a 1hz ,it kind of like there lazy untill the turbo kicks in to do the work them

You could also ask why they have direct injection and heavier pistons.

and then you can ask why NOT having direct injection, heavier pistons and rods and higher compression still works....

?????

...still works most of the time.

This has obviously been beaten to death. I just want to know my argument for when I meet a Toyota engine design engineer and inform him that he is wrong by dropping the compression ratio when turbocharging a diesel.

if you don't agree with turboing a stock non-turbo engine then don't.

what works on paper doesn't necessarily work in real life.

I run a GT2876R on my 1hz

25psi

Lots of fuel

Custom water air intercooler

I have a heavy foot.

It loves it

why? the chances of you ever meeting the actual engineer is slim to none.
you are wanting something that can't be given you. it works, that is all that matters. so in the end you just want to pick a fight that has been discussed often. use the search and waste your time.

the original post was asking if he was going to experience any problems and if he is reasonable then no issues will arrise. THAT is the end of the matter.

Better also read all the doco then learn fluent japanese or effluent Japanese depending on how u want the conversation to go. Lol I'm almost on the floor hahaha

Thought I was asking a legitimate question since the thread came up. I'll start another thread in the diesel section. Or not...

I have a ct26 and the collectors of a hdj80 I would want to mount and them, someone you would know give some council to me? thank you so much!!;)
