Gents ,
Would like some honest opinions on this and ideas please.
I have client who has a 55, currently has Ross Racing built 2f, 5 speed, 4 inch SU lift. 4 dic's.
Looking to repower, wants plenty of power when needed, truck spends 90% on fire roads and sand, does not like heat or noise, so no 4bt or noisey other motors, but wants diesel.
Also does not want the thing in the air, currently on 35's, and 4inch lift. He does not want to go any higher.
I need to make a decision really very soon as to what way we will move, decision is mine.
Thanks for the imput, I have spend weeks searching and now am down to the nail.
Kind Regards.
Paul

Need motor and combo that I can get parts, tricky enough getting parts here as is, Toyota here do not carry to much for that motor, but i can get them elsewhere.
The cummins motor, only one place here to get them from, and I have weeks of wait. sticker price is somewhat large.
The International motor is fantastic, but it would be the only one here in this country and with no back up, if things go pear shape, I'll be in trouble.

Here, I have to bring all parts in, costly but it's normally the only way, I cannot just go down the street and get what one needs.
Thanks again for the input, Please keep it comming.

1HZ T + H55F combo ...

I agree.

In fact, when I found my 1HZ and bought it with no real plan for it (was still just doing 2H-T in my 45) I thought about buying a 55 just to put it in. I think a 55 with a 1HZ would be incredibly sweet. There's already a 55 with 1HZ project on the board here. I'm sure he'll chime in soon enough, or you can search. I'm not sure if there's a thread on it in particular.

1HZ-T+H55f, all the way those Cummins motors may have more brawn, but Toy diesels have a finesse and dogged ability to cling to life long into the 300,000 mile zone.

That, and your friend wouldn't have to take the Toyota badges off his 55...

yup, sorry bout that. i read too quickly and thought you were in san jose, ca. i've driven a 1hz/h55 in a 60 series for a while now and i would definitely add a turbo if power is a concern.

Hi Paul,

Your friend says he wants plenty of power. Would he be satisfied with the same power as the 2F or does he want more? I'm not sure the 1HZ T is going to be enough added power to please him.

Have you investigated the GM 6.5L conversion? It is lower cost conversion with an easy parts supply from the US (5 days Aerocasillas) and gives great torque improvements. There is an adaptor kit made to speed the conversion and a few documented swaps have been done.

Heat and noise can be managed by lining the firewall and floor boards with a good insulation made of foil and closed cell foam.

Que piensa?

Sounds like you're in the realm of a mondern, computer-controlled full-size pickup diesel, chipped.

HZ-T/H55 is more of a "more than adequate" vs "plenty of" power setup. It has surprised many other diesel owners and fuel attendants with how quiet it is.

1HZTI and if he needs even more power then PI...
if that isn't enough then he needs to stick with a gasser turbo'd.

Thanks for all the feed back, Please keep it comming it you have anything new to add or any suggestions.
pm'ed a few of you.
Thanks again.
