Super easy to test for air in the fine system with a $10 piece of clear pvc hose between the filter assembly and your injection pump. Takes 10 minutes to set up.

If you see bubbles pass through the clear hose, you have air in the system.

A piece of clear hose from the firewall to the filter will tell you if the leak is in the primer/filter assembly, or somewhere between the tank and filter. No bubbles before the filter, but bubbles after equals leaking filter assembly.
Bubbles before the filter equals leaking fuel lines under the car

That will be tomorows checks I think, try find some 10mm.clear hose and rig something up. I really hope it's a simple as air I'm the fuel 🤞

Cheers

I was ready to spend a couple of grand on my 1hz after changing injectors to try and fix smokey running and a stumble. $10 hose confirmed my issue was air leaking at the primer pump.
$200 primer vs $2000 IP rebuild. I'll take that any day.

Not sure on year, I purchased the motor 2nd hand but rebuilt,

I changed the fuel lines to and from the lift pump on the weekend, my next step was to change the lift pump,

I have noticed what appears to be a minor weep on the return rail on number 1 injector right on the top.

Here's some info on the injector washers.

And this thread has some info about block numbers and year built. Not a ton of data points yet, but with time perhaps more will get posted.

There's a good number of threads on pusher pumps with discussion for and against. Here is one. My understanding is make sure you don't use one that has too much pressure and best to use one that when/if it fails it does so in the open position.

Thanks for these posts fellas. I have been driving Missus White around in the mountains of British Columbia and have noticed white smoke when coming down steep grades. The primer pump/filter looks a little aged. I will go to Lordstown Auto Parts and see about getting some clear PVC and try to see if there are air bubbles.

Power is not great on the 1HZ but fuel mileage is excellent at up to 20 MPG even in the hills. Drops to about 18 MPG for heavy mountain driving.

Speed drops to 65-70 KPH on steepest grades. Really enjoying driving around in Missus White the 2007 105.

Just go to Home Depot, Lowe's, Bunnings, whatever your local two colour big box hardware store is called.
You just need ordinary garden variety clear hose. Nothing fancy, nothing reinforced, nothing fuel rated etc.
It'll only be in use for a few minutes to diagnose.

Or, go to parts store, and wait for them to ask VIN, year, make, model, manual or auto. And them tell you, we have no part number listed for that 🤣

You could also get clear hose rated for diesel fuel and leave it on there permanently. Hard to find, only place I know of is mcmastercarr.

Tested, and no air going from filter to ip. Looks like I need to look deeper.

I found a leaking injector causing smoke At idle

So I did a full pump rebuild and injectors. And also some fine tuning with the max fuel screw and diaphragm on the injection pump. Real similar to a 12v Cummings ve pump.

I do have a AFR gauge and a egt gauge to street tune it.
