Ok so it was running really nicely yesterday. Go to it this morning and it's the same problem, like before really bad. So I thought I'd check codes again. Now when I bridge the obd1 pins all i get is flashing CEL light and O/D light. Anyone know what this means? No actual codes like before, permanent flashing whilst the TE1 and E1 pins are bridged

I'm at a loss now. I assume the o2 sensor is ok since it seemed to do the trick yesterday...

Theres a relay clicking intermibtabtly down behind the fuse box which wasnt happening before too, Also the oil light has come on, oil level is good though. Ahhh.....

Ok little update

The sensor code has cleared, there are no other codes showing.

Cleaned the EXTREMLY dirty MAF which has made a huge huge difference, it now drives ok ish... the o2 sensor appears to be ok since the code has cleared. However it's still really struggling in low revs no power at all. Also revs jump about alot and the idle is rough. It'll stall if left for long

When cleaning the MAF I noticed a puddle of Oil by the throttle body intake, I assume this is throw back or EGR, I might take it off to clean it and install a oil catcher. Looks a little tricky to remove the throttle body? I know theres plenty of info on that in the search bar.....

So any pointers to look at would be helpful. FYI the EGR vacuum hose has been doubled back on itself. Would that make a difference? Also the pill light it on despite me filling it up 3 times to check it's actually full. Maybe have to change the sensor but I assume this won't cause these symptoms?

Cheers

Check the air intake tube from the MAF to the throttle body for splits or cracks. Any air sucked in through a crack will be unmetered and can cause mayhem with idle especially.

Will do, I did change it a couple months ago for exactly that reason, this one looks ok. I'll double check. It is LPG so it has a LPG feed into it. It could be sucking in from there possibly

Hey mate, did you ever solve this problem you where having with your 80?. I'm experiencing very similar problems with mine. cheers

given its run on LPG have you tested / cleaned the petrol injectors?

do the symptoms exist on petrol only or both?

clicking under the dash, this sounds like the relay for switching from Petrol to LPG could be malfunctioning and the engine is getting both petrol & LPG at the same time - this will cause it to run crap and at idle very likely stall

No mines got nothing to do with lpg as mine has only ever ran on petrol

i was responding to the original post & just saw its 3 yrs old !
if having surging issues like the OP stated look at the TPS, it could be at fault and pumping fuel in when not required
