It's mainly standing at the rear that you can hear the difference. And keep in mind that these sound clips are without a silencer/resonator. If you want it super quiet, you have the option of getting the exhaust with our silencer/resonator installed. Wear some headphones or listen to these with some good speakers. It's VERY hard to judge the sound properly on a laptop or phone:

DYNO RESULTS

Details on how we did the dyno testing:

* All runs done with shifter lever in 2nd gear and "2nd start" button depressed. This assures that we are able to start in 2nd gear and stay in 2nd gear throughout the entire run for the most stable and repeatable results. (numbers would be slightly higher across the board in 3rd gear, but on these trucks there is no way to keep it in 3rd gear without shifting).
* All dyno runs done in 2wd (rear wheels). Front driveshaft removed, center diff locked.
* This was on an LX470 that was totally stock except for 33" BFG tires.

Graph details:

1) Baseline dyno, all stock
2) Dyno with EMSPowered catback exhaust, everything else stock
3) Dyno with EMSPowered catback exhaust and EMSPowered high flow midpipes w/ dual cats (one cat in each pipe)

The first graph is UNCORRECTED numbers. Here at EMSPowered we like uncorrected dyno charts because they do not have any sort of arbitrary calculations that change the true numbers. Uncorrected DynoJet graphs show true power that is being made to the tires with NO other calculations. The second graph is STD correction showing what the numbers are with STD correction factor calculations (calculations to correct numbers based on air temperature, humidity, altitude, etc...). As I mentioned, here at EMSPowered we like UNCORRECTED numbers, as they are the actual numbers being put down with no trickery or weird calculations.

Good to hear that you're happy with your EMSPowered exhaust system. Let us know if you have any questions.

100-series orders are shipping out quicker than before now. Around 3-8 day build time after you order. Let us know if you have any questions.

Currently still shipping within 3-8 days after you place your order. In about 2 weeks we should be able to start shipping 100-series exhausts within 48 hours of placing your orders. Hopping within 3-8 days after

mid pipes are 199 per pair? If so I'll be ordering ASAP. I am looking for no cats.

Mid pipes are priced per unit. Each truck requires two.

Can somebody confirm that deleting the cats on my 1998 LC will not adversely affect performance in the long run?

We do not have emissions inspections where I live, and I want to get rid of the rattling clogged cats on my 1998 LC.

There is one set of O2 sensors in front of the cats and one set behind the cats.

I know the front set is for measuring combustion efficiency in the engine, and the info is used by the ECU to adjust air-fuel ratio.

The rear set of O2 sensors measures "catalyst efficiency," (which I could not care less about). Is information from the post-cat O2 sensors also used in the ECU for other purposes apart from determination of catalyst efficiency?

Will I screw up my truck by replacing the rotten original catalytic converters with EMS mid-pipes with no catalytic converters?

How come the midpipes without cats do not trigger a CEL for catalyst efficency?

It seems like if you lose the cats, you should get a CEL.

What does EMS/baktasht do prevent a CEL when using the midpipes without cats?

Is there any other long term effects of getting rid of the old cats and replacement with the EMS midpipes without cats?

Can somebody who has used the EMS midpipes without cats please report?

Thanks for your help with this.

Running the EMSPowered midpipes with or without cats will gain performance. There will not be any downsides to running without cats as far as performance or longevity goes. But you should make sure that it is legal in your area to run your vehicle without any catalytic converters. If it is not, we offer the EMSPowered mid-pipes with single and dual catalytic converter configurations.

The rear set of O2 sensors is used to measure catalytic converter effeciency. Based on the readings the ECU will also adjust long term fuel trim from 0-2%. We have our cat-less midpipes on several 80 and 100 series and have measured power gains and measured gas mileage gains in all cases.

Not at all, it will run very well with more power, and better fuel economy.

How come the midpipes without cats do not trigger a CEL for catalyst efficency?

We space the post-cat O2 sensor flange out from the pipe more than usual in order to "trick" the ECU into thinking that everything is okay. This is an old trick we have used for many years and have fine tuned to work great on many different platforms when deleting catalytic converters from OBDII vehicles.

In the above answer

Is there any other long term effects of getting rid of the old cats and replacement with the EMS midpipes without cats?

Better gas mileage and more power :)

Thanks for your help with this.

CA Resident here - is there anything special I need to consider CA Smog wise, if I am only replacing a rusty exhaust pipe, and keeping the stock cats? Do I need any special certifications or whatnot for just the exhaust to pass the smog/visual inspections?

thanks in advance

The EMSPowered Catback Exhaust should be legal in CA.

Should be is NOT is legal. Has anyone taken the risk and trying to get it smoged? CA has pretty strict rules and not worth messing with it unless you are 100% sure.

We are located in Texas so I'm no expert on emissions laws in other states and counties. As far as I know exhaust components that do not change the factory catalytic converters and/or other emissions devices on the vehicle are legal in California when I lived there back in 2002. And it was fairly relaxed in the less populated counties. I'm not sure if the laws have changed drastically since then or not. For a 100% definite answer I would check with your local counties authorities on the subject matter, because every county is different.

Ordered.

The cat-backs are still on sale -

One look at my old muffler and I placed an order. Something shiney will make the old girl smile :)

FYI - shipping to FL was $80.

The cat-back shouldn't be an issue for a 'sniff' test or inspection - but I am curious if anyone has run a single or double cat mid-pipe through an inspection.

Are the cat-backs still on sale? The website says they are on sale but no sale price shows up.

Any chance of these going on sale anytime soon? Got some tax money coming in and looking to upgrade the exhaust system.

I know this thread hasn't been updated in some time, but any chance you will be having another sale on these systems as themuffinman suggested? I'd be very interested in one.
