***Taking best full cash offer as of 5/20/16, want to sell ASAP due to relocation***

Up for sale is a 1997 factory triple locked poverty pack. The poverty pack came as a stripped down model like they shipped to South America, supposedly this is the last one to make it to the states as a June '97 build. They have no sunroof, no third row jump seats, no power seats, no leather, no fender flares, no rear side sliding glass, no tint, no roof rack, no factory running boards, basically free of all of the items that either get removed or lead to rust, failure, and other issues over the years. The previous owner purchased it from the original owners of 18 years who owned it since new. I hate to let it go but I picked this up with every intention of it becoming our weekend rig with the dogs but the misses simply prefers something different so it's gotta go.

Upgrades/improvements in the past year:

• Repaint in Toyota Grey Metallic, it's not show quality but it's nicer than anything I've seen on any other 80.
• New head gasket
• New wires and plugs
• New belts and all heater hoses
• New Interstate battery
• New water pump
• All new fluids throughout
• New windshield
• New TJM TM-17 front winch bumper
• (5) New repowdercoated 70 series steel wheels 16x7"
• OME/ARB 2.5" lift
• OME/ARB steering stabilizer
• New tie rod and tie rod ends
• Lloyd mats front, rear, and cargo

Upgrades/improvements in the past month:

• New Alpine head unit, CD/USB/Aux/BT/Hands free phone
• Rockford Fosgate Punch 5.25" speakers in the front and rear doors
• (5) New BFG AT KO2's 265/75/16
• New Warn M8000-S with synthetic winch line and a Factor 55 thimble
• New Slee Rock Slider Steps
• New rear upper lift gate handle
• New OEM in-dash cup holder
• New OEM exhaust gaskets from the manifold back to the second Cat
• New AC drier unit and system re-charge (old one was leaking)
• New Scan Guage 2 mounted on the steering column
• New center console latch
• (2) New OEM factory keys
• New Yodateq LED under hood lighting
• New Bosch blade style wipers
• New OEM Toyota air filter

This Cruiser drives amazingly well and runs cool. I haven't seen temps north of 195F on the Scan Guage and that's with AC on HI and sitting in traffic in 90 degree temps down here in south Texas. The interior is amazingly clean and short of a small tear on the back of one of the rear seats and another on an armrest on one of the rear doors it is nearly perfect. No door dings, dents, or rust on the body. The only thing on the entire vehicle that doesn't work or is missing is the antenna mast, the motor and up/down buttons still function fine. I have capped the antenna hole to keep water out. It runs up down the highway at 70mph on Cruise all day and the tranny shifts smooth.

The Cruiser is located in South Central Texas, about 2 hours from San Antonio/Austin/Houston. I may be willing to deliver to those cities for the right price. The Cruiser has 213K on the odo and it'll continue to slowly go up as I use it sparingly until it sells. PM or email me (Tex six eight w at gmail.com) for questions or other pic requests. Asking $17,500 OBO. Might entertain adventure bike, dual sport, or super motard trades.

Thanks and that is a bit pricey. Let me know when you drop to around $12,500 to $13,000.

Cheers,
Allen

Just re-read why you were selling it.

Can I speak to your better half and see if I can convince her to convince you to drop the price? :)

No, read the ad. Nothing wrong with it. Gotta keep the other half happy.

We will be moving out of home in order to sell it next week for our relocation. I'll be on vacation the following week only to return in time to pack up what's left and move. I would like this gone before then so that I have one less headache to deal with. I'm taking the best full cash offer that comes across the table this weekend. Clean Texas title in hand!

Is anyone going to put a bid??? Let's get this started. I will give $10,000. I can be there to pick it up late afternoon of the 21st as I am in Houston. I truly hope someone outbids me because this LC is worth a lot more. Start bidding guys!!!

Offered him a really great offer and he should have taken it then, which is the same price he would take now. I ended up finding something with less miles for a little lower price.

I've sold nicer for 12.5K

Not equally OE equipped as this, you haven't.

I hunted for years for the twin to this rig and, in that time, saw less than I could count on one hand.

Not only are they're more unique than 40ths and will someday command much higher prices due to the extremely small numbers imported, but no sunroof or split cargo glass to leak, no powered seats to break, no tint so matching isn't a concern, and the seating is much more comfortable than extended power seats.

Know this 80 and those that rehabilitated, even played a minor supporting role, and I probably bear some degree of responsibility in the PO's (not this poster, but PO) purchase of, since all I talk about is this configuration and how rare it they are.

I didn't see complete, but based on the professional work I've witnessed by all parties involved, over the course of many years, I know the fit and finish it exhibits.

If you'll notice, there's no puttied roof rack holes, nor luggage rub rails still attached, something that I wouldn't think a $13k asking for a 217k 40th should have, but no one was crapping on your thread about it, we just moved along, which is what you and the others that don't like the price should do.

If you can't appreciate this for the uniqueness, the continued efforts of PO to further poverty pack it (professionally welded holes, professionally painted, down to powder coated steel wheels that are fitting a non-US '97 80, all of which costs money, fine, but don't crap on the mans thread then stand around like a bunch of vultures.

Stop typing and move along.

Nice to see a shred of integrity and decency here. Thanks for the kind words. Crapping on one mans thread is definitely not my style and I've been a bit baffled by how many have done it so easily here.

Nice to see decency

That may be a stretch.....but birds of a feather, and all....

I can tell you it'd take a lot more than $19k to separate me from mine, regardless mud value, because I appreciate what separates from the rest of the flock....

and she's very far from perfect, but the potential to return a lifetime of CEGs (chit eating grins) is priceless.

Being purveyor of relatively uncommon Cruisers and self nominated curator of a personal museum (ahem. Hoarder with an extreme Cruiser addiction) I speculate that she'll someday undergo a full spa treatment, to restore and preserve, in appreciation of her rarity, the last year the true Land Cruiser ever rolled off the dock for use on US soil.

The thread topic'd PP80 spent time for mechanical in a shop two miles from my house, at my suggestion to the PO. A family run operation that I know very well and on any given day, there are three generations working side by side, everyone in the small shop is blood related and the family name is on the door.

I carried the head to a local machinist that has been in business since the dawn of combustion, of such renown I sat the head on your 80 next to both heads from some vintage V12 Jaguar so expensive that the name on the tag didn't surprise, being an internationally known billionaire that could afford to have it returned to Jaguar for a complete restoration......even if they've never provided that service before.

Know the PO, since a local buddy that is also purveyor of Cruiser goodness.....lacking only the 'love at first sight' syndrome from which I suffer, precluding me from culling the herd.... even when one should be drug into the field and shot, much less a good Cruiser.

He can let go. I cannot.

I had to step away from this one before I became attached and rationalized the purchase as a good car for my grandkids, even though my oldest only turns 16 in a week. (She has 4 or 5 to choose from.....but, sadly for me, she doesn't like a single one, so I'm still searching for 'her' cruiser...... :) )

My unsolicited advice is to hang tight on price, let this thread die, and try again in a month. During that month, give her a chance to show her love to both you and your wife.

'A good wife appreciates a good Cruiser, the same as her good husband, otherwise a single woman she shall be.'

20.4 MPG? did i read that right? that can't be right maybe after a reset and rolling down the hill? If this thing is getting 20MPG this would be a sweet deal!

I tried to get the bidding started and then the opinions took over and nobody put in a higher bid. I just assume that $10k is not enough, but if it is please let me know this morning while the bank is still open.

I had originally offered between $12,500 - $13,000 and I honestly feel that's about what it will/would bring on the open market from a private sale.

Price bashing is unfortunately an art form on 'MUD. If you have issues with the "asking price", perhaps sending the seller a P.M. might be more appropriate.

Based on what comps, meaning, by what are you using to formulate that assessment?

Haha. Well you can do your own research and I can say I did mine several years ago to date on you name it... eBay, cars.com, autotrader, craigslist, local lots, and well our best friends at KB and NADA, which give an estimate but not true ground truth number as these vehicles bring a little more.

So with that said, $17,500 was in the picture and I offered $13k for it yet the answer was no. It has now dropped to $13k and it seems no one is biting and you have a $10k offer on the table.

So please tell me why you are interested in me providing you comps and my assessment when there is a known logic that can be seen in the posts within this very thread?!?!

Well you can do your own research

Hunted the one I own for many years, again, because these are rarities.

eBay, cars.com, autotrader, craigslist, local lots....

This isn't a Honda, not even a run of the mill Toyota and you're missing the intrinsic value to this configuration, aren't able to appreciate it, or, like others posting here, adolescent and thread crapping.

A search of eBay, CL, autotrader may result 4,000 80s right now, but I bet you will not find one like this.

Further, my 40 is a $50k deal with eBay sales as comps, and it isn't worth that.

I can document, with parts invoices, why this LX taking a breif highway side nap, is worth $35k, factoring in a 25% depreciation for 10k miles on only the drivetrain related components.

Intrinsic valuation isn't discernible with a firm grasp on Internet banter.

Don't miss the forest for the trees.

It has now dropped to $13k and it seems no one is biting and you have a $10k offer on the table.

Where did it drop to $13k?

It is not my vehicle to sell, not my thread, and I have as much business participating in this diatribe as you.

It's frustrating to see web wheelers and dealers that think they've a firm grasp on the market try to treat this forum section like a trading floor, and reason I chimed in.

If you don't like the price but want the vehicle, message the seller and try to make a deal. If none can be reached, move on to the next opportunity.

There's no point in interjecting an opinion, unfounded in anything factual, just for S&Gs (it happened in this thread, but realize it wasn't your post) because this isn't a 'what is my junk worth?' thread.

So please tell me why you are interested in me providing you comps and my assessment when there is a known logic that can be seen in the posts within this very thread?!?!

There's no known logic anywhere on mud, much less this thread, and common courtesy seems elusive, too.

That said and to reiterate, you may search for years to find similarly equipped, and doubtful one may surface that's had this degree of P, B and M work done to.

Price out a conversion. You'll top $10k for roof skin and headliner, installed with the flare holes welded, easy. (Skin and headliner are ~$4k sitting on an Aichi dock)

How much for front, rear, cargo clear glass?

Can't find the interior anywhere. Nothing in Japan, Europe, or the Middle East.

Don't know what's special about the interior?

Then you don't know why this particular 80 is valuable, therefore should keep your opinion to yourself, or hash it out in private.
