why would ANYONE defend the 1FZ? Wait....check that... they make great boat anchors.
I challenge anyone who thinks the 1FZ superior to come for a ride with me.
So here's an odd problem - I can't get my motor to run warm enough! With the heat running, I can't get the block temp to go over 180f and I have a 195 t-stat in the motor.
what to do.....
It's lighter and more hp I don't see the problem![]()
I used the f-body pan because I didnt want any clearance issues with the diff even though I am about 5in of lift in the front. Are you collecting parts to do a swap, info?
Ahhh L92.... man I tried to find one of those motors but no luck for a decent price. My 6L runs pretty damn good though no complaints from me. Why not just run a higher volume oil pump? That's what I did on mine.
I also used the fbody Camaro pan. The truck pan is to big.
From what I understand, my engine already has a higher volume oil pump due to the VVT. I haven't done any mockups yet, but I can't imagine with a bit of careful planning and moving the axle a bit that I won't be able to get the truck pan to fit.
Can you tell me if the problem is the axle housing itself? or the tie-rod?
It's not so much the axle getting in the way but the driveshaft too. It get really tight in there. The truck pan just hangs really low to the point it would be vulnerable to impacts.
There are some nice fbody pans with traps doors to keep the oil around the pickup. I agree the fbody pan is not a good choice for super steep climbs but for an expo rig, it works well.
Noted. I'll drop the thing in there and make a judgement call. I've got an F-body LS1 in the trailer that I could rob the pan off of temporarily if I have to
As for ADS shocks, I've heard lots of good things. I've got a few friends "in the business" so I'll have to see what I can get the best deal on.
I'm a bit of a Pirate junkie and I've also built an LS1 powered Lotus 7, so I'm fairly well versed on all the hardcore LS oiling tech and shock tech. Just a matter of cramming it all into an 80![]()
