Supra pump is quiet as can be can even hear it. Exhaust sounds wicked! Quite a step up from the boat anchor... power is crazy... love it best mod so far LOL

why would ANYONE defend the 1FZ? Wait....check that... they make great boat anchors.

I challenge anyone who thinks the 1FZ superior to come for a ride with me.

So here's an odd problem - I can't get my motor to run warm enough! With the heat running, I can't get the block temp to go over 180f and I have a 195 t-stat in the motor.

what to do.....

Add some boost :D :steer:

It's lighter and more hp I don't see the problem :meh:

I agree lighter and with more power across the board... The motor it SHOULD have came with ;).. Cant wait to hit the trails with this bad boy :hillbilly:

Took the Lexus out today and was able to open it up. Wow! I hit around 2500rpm and took off like no other. Kinda sacred the s***z out of me because I'm used to hearing a lot of noise and no go from the 1fz :). Also wanted to say thanks to all that helped out with the advice, ie RockRod and Warpdriv ect, thanks fellas I owe you a beer if your in these neck of the woods!

I used the f-body pan because I didnt want any clearance issues with the diff even though I am about 5in of lift in the front. Are you collecting parts to do a swap, info?

I've got an L92(6.2)/6L80 sitting in the shop. Gonna try to sneak the truck pan in there, but we'll see. I really want the extra oil capacity for any prolonged off camber/steep climb situations. I'm not opposed to moving the front axle forward a little if I have to.

I'm still working on the rest of the build sheet, but it will be sitting around 3-4" of lift. I've got a brand new FOR Gen II lift sitting in the shop as well, but I'm planning to do 2.0 reservoir shocks, so I may go to coilovers at the same time. It will get airbumps regardless.

Shooting for a cross between a go-fast desert rig and an expo rig. It'll be 2-seats, with the rear stripped down for storage and the dogs.

Ahhh L92.... man I tried to find one of those motors but no luck for a decent price. My 6L runs pretty damn good though no complaints from me. Why not just run a higher volume oil pump? That's what I did on mine.

From what I understand, my engine already has a higher volume oil pump due to the VVT. I haven't done any mockups yet, but I can't imagine with a bit of careful planning and moving the axle a bit that I won't be able to get the truck pan to fit.

Can you tell me if the problem is the axle housing itself? or the tie-rod?

Honestly save yourself a lot of time and head aches, just run the f-body pan and pickup tube. Look around on Craigslist and LS1tech I see them on there all the time for sale.

It's not so much the axle getting in the way but the driveshaft too. It get really tight in there. The truck pan just hangs really low to the point it would be vulnerable to impacts.

There are some nice fbody pans with traps doors to keep the oil around the pickup. I agree the fbody pan is not a good choice for super steep climbs but for an expo rig, it works well.

I would look into ADS remote resi shocks. I run there 2.5 12in travels in the front, great shocks and well worth the money spent.

Noted. I'll drop the thing in there and make a judgement call. I've got an F-body LS1 in the trailer that I could rob the pan off of temporarily if I have to :p

As for ADS shocks, I've heard lots of good things. I've got a few friends "in the business" so I'll have to see what I can get the best deal on.

I'm a bit of a Pirate junkie and I've also built an LS1 powered Lotus 7, so I'm fairly well versed on all the hardcore LS oiling tech and shock tech. Just a matter of cramming it all into an 80

I think that L92 is going to put down some better power then that ls1 :). My next project will be an is300 with an ls6 or ls3 motor.

if only those frame rails were just a bit wider on the 80. I could not get the LS3 manifolds to fit which was really disappointing.

I want to do another LS project. I used to have a 1970 bmw 2002 and I bet one of those would flat out rip with an aluminum ls motor. i think the super 7 is a little bit lighter but still, it would be a blast.
