Wayne put your glasess on and put the beer down. From the photos it is clearly low pinion 9.5'' diffs front and rear, pre 1990. Being a from a mine truck I would not worry to much about the year the vehicle is, as previously mentioned parts have been swapped around on the diffs you have. Looking at the rear it is from a later model than the front, see the difference in the webbing on the carrier housing. This could also mean the ratios are different front to back. Ie, they could be 4.11vs4.10

4.11 to 4.10 is nothing to be concerned about, period.
yes, you are correct, the front diff is from a pre 1990 unit.
my bad.
now if that was 3.70 front to a 4.10 rear or a 4.30 rear to a 4.10 front then you would have some serious issues.

So even pre 90 had the gusset on the bottom of the front axle from the pumpkin to the spring pad then?

and that odd wind catcher on only one side of the front axle?

Mace-

tomorrow I can take a shot of the front '87 cable locker I have on my truck that has the gusset. I also have a fj62 tube with the gusset. Came out after the 60 series....

Okay, so a 9.5 ring gear with the gusset housing was late 80's?

Probably swapped into this mine truck for some reason. Which sounds like it was something that was not exactly uncommon? Both axles came from the same truck. I am positive about that.

And the rear axle has some additional webbing on the third which means it was more like 95 which is the year the truck was.

BTW, I'm not arguing with anyone about what years are what on a 70 series.

That being said, I do know a bit about 40's, 55's, 60's and 80's. At least US domestic crap. And these axles are not anything that came here during those times.

There is just too many weird aspects about both ends..

1987 full size front 70 diff
1990 small front 70 diff

just for comparison.

Neither of those have a gusset at the bottom. Any idea what year those were available?

So that 89 has the gussett in the bottom of the axle tube?

no idea, it is buried under the snow, but, that is the last year of the full size front diff in the mine trucks .... that i know of.

Cool, thanks.

Lol, there was no reason at all to crawl through the snow Wayne.

Thanks Alberto, any idea what years they had the gusset? I'd rather have a solid date if I'm ordering parts. Not that a gusset makes much of a difference but..

43110-60240 (05/1986 - 07/1986) 1 $2,056.60

seems to be the 43110-60161 ... but i am not sure

No problem. I've found that most of the parts are the same as the 60/62/70 series (except axle shafts that are 70 series specific). The later ones might have different brake calipers and such, but bearings, seals and miscellaneous parts seem to be the same.

I would agree with Wayne on the year vintage if I had to guess 43110-60161 (08/1986 - 12/1989), but I am not 100% sure either.

Was there a factory limited slip or non selectable locker available for these axles? Apparently the rear axle has some sort of traction device in it.

I'd have pulled the third out myself, but the amount of rust on these axles is impressive! I think I'll have to replace every stud in the housing lol.
