Indeed, I'll get the axle pulled apart Friday, but from the VERY limited inspection through the fill hole, it looks like the Aussie spec LSDs

funny part is that from the description of them, they are really weak, but this one seems to be almost fully locked up.

yes, some FF rear came with factory LSD.
easy way to tell, rotate one drum, if the other turns the same way, limited or locked, if it turns opposite then open or worn out LSD (can be torn down and improved).
cheers

Exactly how I discovered this one has some sort of traction aid.

The worn down LSD's will rotate opposite? Interesting, I never would have expected that.

Thanks Wayne.

the clutches, when worn badly, no longer have grip so it acts as open.
if you do a search or want to email me direct, i will give you some suggestions on how to beef up the LSD so it has much better grip but will still give before the birf gives out.

On the rear axle, are there any us spec axles that use the same brake backing plates? Before I go trying to ressurect these, I'd prefer to see if I can find replacements in a junkyard. It looks like I can get new ones for around $100 easy, but that's my last option.
