I am posting this for a friend. I did a search and turned up nothing.

He has a 1995 4Runner. It cruises fine at high speeds, but when he lets off the gas at about 70mph, there is a strong vibration, from the driveshafts or something. The vibration goes away once more pressure is applied to the pedal and when speed is dereased. Any ideas would be appreciated.

is it a u-joint if the vibration goes away once the gas is released?

I would also bet on the rear driveshaft, either a bad U-joint or the slipjoint splines are worn out.

Grease is cheap. Driveshafts aren't.

check the front axles. if it is stock with the add, the front axles probably have taken alot of extra wear from constantly turning. best bet on a set of manual hubs

I had that problem, but the symptom was different. Expect an intermittent growling from the front with this one.

Vibrations can be a challenge to isolate. I have a digital temperature gun that I will do a quick scan on suspected parts such as the u-joints to see if something is running hotter than it should be after I go for a test drive. If it vibrates or makes noise it usually generates heat.

Welcome aboard Big Dave. Remember to use the search feature in the bar at the top of the page. And if you can't fine your answer there then you can start a new thread. I know people have used coils from the 80 series land cruisers, but I don't think that will give you 4 inches.....
