A few months ago I bought a 1994 KZJ70 with the 3.0L engine. It had been 'restored' 6 years or so ago but after purchase there were a few (quite a lot) things that needed addressing. I'm full time self employed as an Artist Blacksmith so have a good collection of metalworking tools and knowledge, however haven't worked on cars before.
I thought i'd start a thread to document my progress and learning along the way, as well as the **** ups!
To start with I found there was a hole in the nearside wheel arch, so removed the batteries, washer bottle etc and cut out the effected area.
Then bent up a new peice of steel, I decided to use some 2mm thick to compensate for the fact some of the removed peice was double skin.
Then welded up and later drilled the hole and welded on a captive nut to replace the original.
Next I moved onto the rear sill, which was much worse than i expected.
