I picked up this1993 fj75 yesterday. I previously posted wondering what bed it had on it and got some great help. I'm going to be slowly bringing this back to road worthiness and am going to need some more helping IDing parts on this Parts bin of a build.

The frame and cab are from 1993 but I'm not sure about the rest. Its front coil sprung on OME nitro's and 5 lug all the way around with a dana 60 in the rear, I think.

Seller claimed it was restored in Venezuela. The whole cabs been painted and the frame as well. It looks like they probably took the cab off frame to do so. The interior is physically in good shape. But the vent position does not change, AC doesnt work and a few other issues.

My first step is going to be rebuilding the knuckles, as you can see the axle seal is leaking steadily. what front axle is this 75, 79 80?

That's a very cool set up, coil pack 1FZ, coil spring front suspension and a newer gauge cluster.
5 lug would indicate larger birdfield & brakes similar to a 80 series
I believe all of that comes from a much newer rig.
I also like the manual transfer case. No vacuum actuated shifting! 😎

Hello,

That is a post-1999 drive train, complete with instrument panel.

The front axle is a Toyota, with an 8 in. differential if I remember correctly. Rear Axle is a Dana 60. Shafts and brake parts are interchangeable with those from Toyota axles.

The heater levers need cleaning and some lubricant.

AC may need a recharge and a leak check.

I would start by taking the instrument panel apart. I bet there is a lot of hacking/splicing in there.

I would change axle seals and bearings. Then I would have the shafts checked and replaced if necessary. Front rotors may need replacement.

The knuckle seal kit is available from Toyota. So are the other parts.

Please keep us posted on your work.

Great, thanks for the help with IDing parts. Ordering a knuckle and axle seal kit now.

Got the truck insured and registered today. 12$ a month with coverage for $25000 as an antique.

Surprisingly the truck runs great, starts right up. Instrument cluster seems to be wired in well. CEL displays with key in ACC position but goes away when it starts, 4x4 light turns on and off when appropriate. Has an OBD2 port I haven't tried yet.

Today I fixed a leak where the exhaust manifold connects to the downpipe, They had just ran nuts/bolts and for today I did the same until I can get new studs in and pull the manifold.

I tore into the hvac system and the plastic actuating system is all wrecked, but I got it set to where it will at least defrost/feet heat which is all I really need to get through winter. I'll have to slowly accumulate hvac parts over winter and rebuild that before summer hits.

Brakes all work great with plenty of pad life. I pulled all the old fluid from the reservoir, put fresh fluid in and bled the system till it ran clean. Did the same with the clutch.

Going to drain and fill the rear end as that fluid looks real old and I want to make sure what diff I have before I try to find a locker. Transmission will get MT90 whenever it gets in, could not find any GL4 oil locally. Front will get fresh fluid whenever resealed. I need to rerun all the breathers as they left hanging floppy at the moment. I think I will use an ARB, or similar breather block and mount it on firewall.

The truck came with that Safari branded snorkel and no cap. I noticed it wasn't connected to the intake and really hoped that maybe they hadn't drilled the fender either.

But clearly they did, so I guess I'll be a snorkel guy, cause I'm definitely not a paint and body guy. Although I did do some painting to get rid of the red on the tow hooks,

I'm stoked for the project and so far its looking like nothings beyond repair, but time will tell.
