so I've been gathering Intel long enough! Time to start a thread, it may be a bit slow but I got a head start as well, so maybe that will help.
As the subject says, it's a 93 fxj with lockers. I started by gutting the interior and sending the original front seats for reupholstery. Picked up some OE wheels and had them powder coated 60% black
Then took it to work (I've been fixing cars for 35 years) to rebuild the ends of both axles.
(New brakes, birds, front axles, all bearings, etc.) I am building my last outdoor rig on wheels....maybe,
I hike, hunt, fish, back pack, climb, kayak, bike and drive around a lot.
I live at the South edge of the Olympic mountains in Washington state.
The plan is:
LC9 (2013 Silverado 5.3) 6L80 6 speed automatic. Swap
A bit of a lift....little bit.
Good shocks
Home brewed front bumper, (I have a new warn 9k I may include)
4x4 labs rear with single swing
Home brewed long roof rack
Sunroof delete (already removed and steel sheet E-wheeled to shape)
Sleeping platform/drawers
Laptop navigation
Good tunes
Sound deadening
Desert tan respray
Whew!
I hope to have it finished by early 2016
First pic is as purchased second one is today's work.

Sold the engine/TRANS/Ecu/cat/etc. Today! Now it's too late to turn back....plus I cut the transfer case harness so I will have the connectors to join it back up with the t-c Ecu without the engine harness involved.
This week will be clean up week for sure, it's quite grimy under there, it's almost like a few of the Brotish cars I've owned.

Now that engine and TRANS are sold, old engine pedistals are cut off the frame, adaptor is installed on TC I can get going with the harness.....

So I've spent little time with this app and only a little more on the cruiser but it's moving along....

You're the first LS swap I've seen a picture of a dented in firewall for clearance. Are you using the Marks adapter kit to the 6L80? I'm curious if you shifted the drivetrain back or are using a different transfer case as this is a long term plan I have for mine. You seem to have have some experience and appreciate all the information you can give for myself and others.

I just saw in another thread you are using the Marks adapter. Is the firewall clearance just for access room then?

Actually I was hoping someone had the OE crankshaft Angie as installed. Currently with the 5.3 at a normal looking angle of say 3 degrees and the fore/aft location set by the marks adaptor it puts the right valve cover and head into the firewall.
It clearanced just fine with a few whacks but I was wondering why.

I can't remember for sure, but I think I was close to 3 deg. The fore/aft must be a function of the 6l80e vs 4l60e. I have the latter and I have a lot of room at the firewall. However, my AC compressor was within about 1/8 inch of the frame when mounted low like yours. I didn't have the AC bracket when mocking up, which was a mistake or course. I ended up using the Holley bracket to mount the compressor high and also did a remote res on the PS to give a little more room at the steering box (this probably not necessary in the end.)

Thanks, I believe you're correct, the 6L80 and marks adaptor are sitting right on the OE crossmember.
I'll measure the length center of T/C mount and bell housing maybe someone would like to know that.
This combo fits, I just had to make
A little room. The a/c comp and p-s reservoir fit with the engine jacked up high like in my pics but I can't go higher or it will take more firewall work unless I shim the rear up......which is hard on DL angles.
Forge ahead I say!

image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Progress is recomencing on the swap! I had to take some time off to add a 20x30 addition onto my shop.

Splitting the motor mounts and making them bolt together is a good idea. Will get you a little more clearance getting in and out with the motor/trans. I have basically same type (but one piece) and it takes some contortions to get everything over the mounts when installing motor/trans/Tcase as a unit. Looking good.

any update? I'm curious where your intake sits since you said it was up high for the compressor and p/s pump.
