I currently have a 1988 fj62 and the trans is completely toast on it and I have an option to get a fj70 series 5 speed manual as long as i pay just the shipping for it. Has anyone swapped a 5 speed h150f behind a 1hz diesel in a 62 with a 3f motor? I'm guessing it wont be a bolt on project but how hard would it be? If would come with the t case so adapting that isnt an issue but would it be the same as a h55f swap or am I just dreaming? Would it be worth it with the time spent vs just buying a h55f and adapter kit for 3kish? Any help would be greatly apprectied! Ive done a lot of swaps but nothing when it comes to a Japan transmission into a us fj62!

There are a good number of threads on this subject. I have an 88 FJ62 that my son wanted to convert to an H55 but he found a great deal on an 84 FJ60 and we swapped the 4 speed for the H55. For the 62, he found all the used parts I think from cruiseryard.net The bell housing is a bit different for the H55 but the early bell housings can be easily shaved out to fit the H55. I am looking for the posts we used to go through the change. The actual work to convert a auto to a stick is a bit more involved because of the pedal bucket, clutch cylinder, transfer case, slave and master cylinder. If I remember right, the drive shafts yolks and lengths are different. I will go through the check list of parts my son did when he searched out the parts. (will get back on that). After driving his H55, I would like to do the same.

Yeah I've read a lot about the h55 swaps but my questions was more based on the h150f swap I would like to put the h150f 5 speed behind my 3f motor. I was wondering if it would be worth it to attempt this swap or if I should just go for a h55 swap. The h150f trans from a 70 series is different than the h55

Wow, I am not sure about the h150f, sorry

No worries thanks for the help if I decide to do the h55 swap! Hoping someone here will know about the h150f behind a 3f motor..

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Its only tempting cause I can get it for free. id just put it in a box ship it home and I have the trans and t case but if there is no easy way to put that trans in instead of a h55 then ill just go the h55 route.
