Mate, glad you are alright. And as you and others have said happy it wasn't the cruiser. People scare me, and I can't believe most are allowed to drive with how little they pay attention to their surroundings.

Good to hear you are okay, sorry about the VW

Yep all is well physically for both parties. Yeah it’s crazy around here, glad I work from home but of course I have a vehicle on it’s side IN MY DRIVEWAY!!! The state trooper said that’s the first time he’s seen a roll in the owners driveway.

Going to be super alert in the cruiser now.

Hello,

I am glad to know you are fine. Sorry for your VW.

People seem to be very careless lately, especially when driving. Watch out and be careful.

Thanks for the thoughts, yeah people are just super distracted today. Used to be the dial on the radio was the distraction. Now it’s phone, nav screen, movies and a million other tech devices.
I’m pretty sure she was on her phone…

Got her back upright. Checked out some of the damage, it’s totaled for sure.

That sucks. Glad you are okay. The Van looks repairable. Not sure if the roof is an easy job. From the outside in the rear, it looks like it's fine. did you check under the rear?

I've been rear ended in Ohio before. The guy who hit me was drunk. He was probably doing 70 and no brakes. I still remember that day. terrifying! both cars were totaled.

Yeah I think it’s actually not that bad. It held up quite well. I think that tow hitch took the brunt of the force. I think the underneath in the rear is going to have a lot of damage. I don’t k ow what’s behind those plastic bumpers so I need to see what’s lurking under there.

The roof only has a small crack In the fiberglass up front so I think the whole pop top setup is still in great shape.

Yikes! 70 sounds like it hurt. Where you hurt at all? I think Becuase I was turning it jarred me sideways and then on the side just threw me all out of wack. All I could do was tense up.

Maybe I’ll get enough money from insurance to buy a troopy! Well a toy one anyway.

I wonder how much work it would take to modify the pop top(ala campteq) to fit on say an 80 series or troopy or something of the cruiser variety?

I’m sure anything can be converted with enough ingenuity or rigging 😂

It’s a fairly big top, 74x43” bed so a troopy would work good or even 80’series like you said. The roofline could Probabaly be made to look decent. I’m not at home today but I could measure what the fiberglass top size is.

The brackets and all framing are there so I can get lots of measurements once the temp l gets above zero in the next few days lol.

@Pz10420
Here are the mostly close dimensions of the euro pop top.

53” w x 119” long. In the eurovan, the front 20ish inches are overlapping the roof. It’s just 2 hinges on the back and the H bar up front. Easily can be replaced with struts.

Sorry I am late to say this but I am glad you are ok.

There isn't much you can do to avoid being rear-ended.

Thanks, yeah still just sore in my neck and shoulders mainly but overall ok.

Yeah it was really fast, but just like the movies the time before impact felt really slow, enough time for me to hope she would only clip the rear corner but not so much. The roll was also slow I’m sitting there going no no!l are you kidding me!

Everyone is safe, which is the main thing.
Now to replace that German beast. I’m tempted currently by a Hiace awd with 1KZ and 5spd….and then add this pop top from the Eurovan. Just what I need, another rare RHD Toyota diesel to work on
