1986 FJ60 1HZ Turbo Build

It's been a slow go as we have been collecting parts for the build. As of now, the turbo, a/w intercooler and heat exchangers have been ordered. We also ordered the safari snorkel and various other miscellaneous parts.

I also finalized my decision on wheels. It seemed like every set of alloy wheels I liked did not come in the correct backspacing. I ended up going with a new set of 70 series wheels since they came in 16" and that was my desired size. I really wanted black. Maybe I should powdercoat them?

Hopefully in a few weeks I can actually start posting pictures of the parts being installed instead of them sitting on my garage floor.

I would support your choice to powder coat them black.

Well....I figured it was about time to update this post. I have bought three other land cruisers since I started this thread. That brings me to a total of 5. While the wife doesn’t mind, I just don’t have enough focus to see this project to completion. One of the trucks I purchased was an absolutely pristine HZJ75. That - to some degree - satisfied whatever desire I had with the 60 (more of an expedition rig). I also came across a very nice FJ40 in a backyard not far from me. So basically, this project is going to morph into something else with the 40 series as the 1hz and transmission will be used for that project.

I will soon start selling some of the 60 specific add-ons I picked up over the year. This includes the turbo seats, old style ARB bumper, and the Kaymar rear bumper. I certainly have mixed feelings about this but it’s tough to stay focused while I have various upgrades ongoing to the Troopy and the frame-off ongoing with the 40.

Very interested in the seats when you decide to sell them. Also interested in the 1HZ turbot if you decide to sell it.

Hey thanks for reaching out. The seats and bumpers went to a buddy in Texas. I just sold the 60 specific items. Everything else stayed with me.
