Approximately 2-3 weeks to gather the necessary parts combined with the fact that the machine shop will close for a while during the Christmas holidays means the ole HJ75 will be MIA until early January. I guess I won't be able to participate in the local Christmas parade this year unless they will accept the BJ74. :)

or
you can put a "DIESEL" sticker on the back of the 75 and participate in the parade.

I would have to stop midpoint and add oil .......the guy in the John Deere tractor behind me wouldn't appreciate that. :D
Plus I don't want to put stickers on my new tailgate. :)

sticker on the back window
get towed by the John Deere

Then the local newspaper would report that the parade was delayed while a tractor pulled a "cool Jeep" down the parade route. My ego couldn't stand that...... :D

The process has begun ......

Based on this plugged hose it is safe to say this engine came out of a Cruiser with rear heat and is not an HJ75 pickup 2H.

Headed to the machine shop in the morning to see what they can get done before they close for Christmas. :)

Upon further inspection it is now obvious where the oil was going.

The crank however was in surprisingly good shape. :)

if you are considering a high output turbo as suggested by FB then get sleeves installed during the rebuild.

Charles has PIC schekles to play with....

For those of you who are not familiar with ancient Biblical terminology........

Shekel (sheqel, Akkadian: šiqlu or siqlu, Hebrew: שקל‎, pl. shekels, sheqels, sheqalim, Hebrew: שקלים‎), is any of several ancient units of weight or of currency. The first usage is from Mesopotamia around 3000 BCE. Initially, it may have referred to a weight of barley. This shekel was about 180 grains (11 grams or .35 troy ounces).
:D
