So "IF" a 1985 HJ75 has both coil and leaf springs does that mean the frame has been updated or perhaps the P.O. was very creative? (This line of questioning is not based on my truck.)

yes, it is modified ...

the coil front didn't come out till 98 or 99 on the heavy duty 7* series ...

A 78 is a troopy with coils, but has an identical body to the 75 series

I thought this was a "78 Series" ( A less desirable cousin of the 76 and 77 Series )

I know jet fuel has a tendency to grow "algae" if not used in a timely manner. Does
anyone know if this is the case with diesel fuel. ( in other words are you doing yourself a disservice to allow the fuel in the rear tank to go unused for long periods?)
Thanks.....

with diesel you need to get a comtaminat into the fuel first.
once there it is a bugger to get back out, as Lowenbrau.

i have had diesels sitting for years with no issues.

Thanks Wayne. I keep bio-diesel in the front tank ( which I use on a daily basis ) and basically keep the rear tank full of commercial diesel fuel in the event that I need it. I have not drained (used) the rear tank in months.

If you leave diesel sitting for a while and it has any amount of water in it, it will get algae growing in it. This is one of the things that fuel additives help with

Here in the States they are actually producing small amounts of bio-diesel from algae so if my rear tank starts growing algae I guess I will be producing my own bio-diesel while I am driving down the road.:D

Yes there is 2 x 78 series and 2 x 79(3 if you count the 07- models) 2x 73 series 2x 70 and 71 series.

Basically Toyota has run out of 7s so they have doubled up:D I think there is a 72 series.

:p Yeah, different kind of algae. The stuff that grows in diesel turns it nearly black and can grow into big lumps of slime. It's not that great for pumps or injectors

if you ever find the elusive 72 series please post up the pics and stats...[/QUOT

Now Wayne the "elusive" 72 Series could be like the "elusive" Sasquatch, we all know its out there somewhere but few have seen it and the few that have were setting around campfires drinking beer.:D

"Basically Toyota has run out of 7's so they have doubled up"...........
Boeing Aircraft is having the same problem with their 7's :D.......and the numbers can be very confusing......a 737 is smaller than a 727....a 787 is smaller than a 777 and the 747 is larger than all of them.....well you get the idea.:)

That did occur to me when I was on one of Qantas's 717-200 last week on my way to pick up the new cruiser.
Nice plane though, lots of legroom.Seem to climb pretty steep,I was half wondering if it was climbing too steep.I always fret about those things LOL

Toyodiy does have a listing for them here, seems they are all 3L with 4sp GEN spec but not for the Gulf countries Australia or South Africa.
ToyoDIY.com

and there is video of a 72 and a 73 playing together.

TLC 72 and TLC 73 - YouTube

I think these are the shorter brother to the LJ79
Except the LJ79 has either a 4sp or 5sp
I know its not irrefutable evidence ,but its a bit more than the mythical 1HZ turbo:D
Ill bet everyone drives an LJ72 in Outer Mongolia LOL

EDIT Seems they are as common as pig s*** in Azerbaijan as well;)
