It kinda interesting that of all the photos that are available if you "Google" D-Day, I am fairly sure this particular monument does not come up even though it marks the location of an important event. Most of the gliders landed well behind German lines and a significant distance from the Normandy beaches and this monument is very near the beach.
Good guess though and I hope the moderators don't notice that this subject has absolutely nothing to do with Land Cruisers. :)

It would be a nice place to visit while driving a Land Cruiser, (there, we're legal again) I tried Google Images first and it didn't come up, ok I'll wait until tomorrow.

Tech: As I was measuring the distance between the front frame rails to see if I can squeeze my 21" winch into the front bar of the Troopie (plenty of room BTW), it occurred to me that my answer was only 50% complete.

The Croix de Lorraine was the symbol of the French resistance, but more importantly it's leader...

I'm willing to bet the answer has something to do with the man they named an airport after.

If you were still in grade school your teacher would give you a gold star for
"effort" even though your answer is only partially correct. The monument does indeed appear to be the modern version of the "Croix De Lorraine" however it was not placed there to honor the French Resistance or an airport for that matter.:)
The monument was placed at Normandy to commemorate the location where Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt came ashore to visit the troops days after the invasion.
OK back to Land Cruiser stuff........

I may need the HJ75 ( in 4x4 ) just to get off the property today. I could actually drive across this area yesterday ( it was bone dry ) but after 3" to 4" of rain last night I think I will consider a different route. :)

The floors of these two docks were approximately 4' above the water line yesterday afternoon and by noon today will probably be totally submerged.
I guess fishing can be marked off the "to do" list for the next few days.:)

so it is only 4" deep?
damn boy, get in er and drive... your good till 36"

Wayne I realize you are Canadian and as a result kinda into that "metric" thing however that water level has risen
4' (feet) not 4" (inches).:D

well, 4' is a bit deep for your little truck ... understood, old boy.

"your little truck" ........... now you have hurt my feelings. :D

Well you learn something new everyday, I thought it was part of the Regimental Insignia below, a commemoration of something they did. Would look cool on a Land Cruiser

That logo would look good on any vehicle. Even more impressive when you realize that all of the D-Day glider pilots were volunteers.:)

Question for the Experts

Did any HJ75's have both coil and leaf springs? Thanks........
