If we do it like that,we build the roof cover out of steel or aluminium sheeting and sometimes add canvas curtains to the side that can be rolled up or removed.
The other benefit of doing it this way is you can add another layer of steel sheeting or bars on top and you have a roof rack.
This is what Ill do when I get some spare cash.

The photo did not post and I would indeed like to see it. My current canopy clears my garage with about 1/2" to spare so an additional roof rack is out of the question.

Great photos and beautiful truck!

I will photograph my "southern heritage" one photo at a time and shamelessly plug my Cruiser until everyone gets tired of it.:D

I had a "full" canvas cover on a 1963 Land Rover Series 2A ( those were dark days in my life) and the sides stayed rolled up 99% of the time. When the sides were down you could not see squat.:)

Are you sure it hasnt come back because I can see it now, including your quote?

Here is another, but its on a dual cab 80 series
The reason I want to do this is because the last 2 canvas tops Ive had ,have rotted away in the hot sun. When you go under dead low hanging banksia trees,it rips the s*** out of em

i am warming to that look Rosco. probably quieter than the soft top version.
do you have a link to the inner workings?

After seeing that set up I am now ashamed to have my "plain" truck out in public.
I suspect the budget for that canopy is "slightly" higher than my configuration.:D

The trick to keeping my Cruiser so clean and shiny.:) A free car wash is available at least once a week and even more often during periods of dry weather. Just pull over and roll up the windows.:D

Was going through some old papers today and actually found a photo of my ole 1967 Land Rover 2A. The only vehicle I ever owned that had been fully restored.:)

No I dont but usually they make a normal frame out of square tube and get the roof made by a sheetmetal worker.
The roof needs to flare out a little around the edge so the canvas can be pinned behind it.
One way of doing it would be to use the channel they use to fit annexs onto caravans.
This design is popular with fishermen and campers. When its all zipped up tight, its not too bad to sleep in
Or you could fit swing up solid doors and have a "troopy":D

Another way of doing it . I got to get myself some of those undertray storage boxes;)

Having secure storage would be nice. Heck having legroom would be nice.:D

Have you tried the high density foam cushion yet.?

As soon as I can spare the truck for a few days I plan to have the seats reupholstered. I plan on adding some additional padding to the seat cushion on the drivers side at that time. I usually don't drive the truck for long distances anyway so I can put up with the leg cramps and back pain.:)

well, to save your back i would be happy to take it off your hands ...
i know, pretty self sacrificing of me.

You Canadians are a notch above. :D

if you think about it ...
we will always be above ... you...

You are operating on the assumption I will not one day move to Alaska.:flipoff2:
