hummm, a troopie can carry 13 people
100 troopie (3.1 gal / mile to 31 miles to the gal) can carry 1300 people
so it would be more efficent to deliver 100 troopies and move people and goods overland that way

although once you head over water ... well ... it would take a lot of plastic barrels to keep them afloat
and
it would take a wheeeeeeeeeeee bit longer to get there.

Or a super long snorkle

Or a super long snorkle

It is not uncommon to see LARGE sections of ice floating on the surface in the North Atlantic, especially in the Winter and it would by my luck to hit one and knock the snorkel off.:)

a bit of a long way from the fuel stations though ... and refilling UNDER water would be "interesting"

They would have to have twin tanks being the troopt through, plenty of miles ;)

Assuming you left the mainland near St. Johns, Newfoundland, those two fuel tanks would put you somewhere between Iceland and Greenland where the water is both deep and cold.:D Air travel may be your best bet.:)

Even I have to put up with traffic.:D

Brits.....they think they own the world and I guess they once did.:D

There are still a few roads in the deep south that have real character. :)

Good ole Georgia clay....hard as a rock when dry and slick as a banana peel when wet.:D
You don't want to end up in the ditch....wet or dry.

Here is the deal....on dry days I go down the road at a relatively slow speed (which is easy to do in an old Land Cruiser) and on wet days I don't go down the road at all.:D It is a scenic and enjoyable drive but fortunately is not the only way to get home.

Scenic indeed, Looks great!

Nice pics Charles, is that a govt owned pine plantation

Private plantation that dates back to the mid 1800's. :) Even though the U.S. Civil War resulted in the destruction of many of the plantations in the northern half of Georgia, a large number in the South were spared the same fate.

very nice Charles, love the way the topper canvas looks!!

Thanks Wayne. The OZ boys have questioned the logic of having a canvas top that does not include "sides" but it serves my purpose.:D

If we do it like that,we build the roof cover out of steel or aluminium sheeting and sometimes add canvas curtains to the side that can be rolled up or removed.
The other benefit of doing it this way is you can add another layer of steel sheeting or bars on top and you have a roof rack.
This is what Ill do when I get some spare cash.
