that is my idea as well, aluminum top with open sides. light, stronger than canvas, no canvas flap flap as you drive down the road...

you need to change your avatar to the new truck ... no?

"you need to change your avatar to the new truck....no"
....
just showing my respect to "family heritage" :)

Spring turkey season starts in the morning.:) Hopefully that rattling
2H won't scare them off.:D

actually, i have found that the rattle of the 2H and the 3B attracts the wildlife ...
as in "WTF is that sound?"

Actually the wildlife is probably thinking "there goes the neighborhood" .:D

RoscoFJ73.......Im thinking about doing the top bit in alloy or steel and hangung canvas curtains off the side,The last 2 canvas rooves I had got ripped up on low hanging branches and rolladoors

My framework is "massive overkill" and very heavy so I would not recommend going that way. Clint79's set-up seems more than adequate and probably weighs a fraction of what mine does.
You could however fabricate a roof rack to attach to the top of my canopy and not have to worry about weight.:)

Mine is adequate for holding the canvas and light weight but that's all it's good for, I'll be adding more bars and strengthening it up to hold a roof top tent of some sort or a roof rack and also adding swing up mesh/caged lockable door al round for security of my fridge and gear when I'm touring.
As is now I haven't had any canvas flap flap at all just a bit of wear from the canvas eyelet holes rubbing on my sides of my tray.

Your talking about adding bars while I removed the middle two. I did not want them in the way and didn't feel they were necessary for structural integrity.

If I was going to add a tent or any other heavy item I would seriously consider replacing at least one brace or at a minimum added one more attach point to the headache bar. I feel the rear brace is adequate.

Both have very powerful, state of the art diesel engines which allows the driver to zip up and down the road at mind-boggling speeds.:D
Uploaded a photo for old times sake.:)

Selling the HJ45 was not one of my smarter moves. :crybaby:
Having said that, I really like the HJ75 ( power steering and factory A/C is kinda nice.) A little more power would also be welcome.:)

Seems like you're quite handy with RHD cruiser.
You should have keep your HJ45 as an antique and perhaps pass it to your children.:D
I come to notice that all your cruiser are in diesel and RHD. My way too.
Your HJ75 body paint is shiny shiny.

I don't have the garage space for an extra vehicle and either the HJ45 or the HJ75 would have been relegated to the weather which would have been unacceptable. My son had a Series lll Land Rover when he was in school but now has a modern Toyota truck and has expressed no interest in my collection. ( perhaps some day :) )

hint: adopt me. i have interest in your collection. honestly, i do. and i would be such a good boy.

"I would be such a good boy" ........somehow I doubt that plus I have seen you and your dogs and I am fairly sure I could not afford the grocery bill.:D

seriously, i would take a 45 over a 75 any day ...

Even if you had to drive a 1000klms a day from time to time? I liked driving the dark blue company 1984 HJ45 back in 85-86,but give me a HZJ75 any day with the aircon and extra leg room.
