Do you have dual tanks or thinking about fitting them?
This was an option only until 1995 when the oz models got it as standard.

Man this is the deluxe model :D......2 tanks from the factory. The tank selector is associated with the rear gauge cluster. ( button and red light indicating rear tank is in use). Honestly, I assumed all the
75/79 Series had dual tanks.
Thanks......

The solenoid valves are above the tanks (or close by)from memory. I think there is 2 valves for each tank. One is for fuel going to the engine and the other is for fuel return.
This is so when you switch tanks the return fuel is sent back to the same tank you are using.
Otherwise you would be filling one tank up while drawing it from the other leading to an overflow.
It also isolates the tanks completely in case you have discovered one has contaminated fuel.
So when you select either tank,2 valves must switch off and 2 must switch on if I understand the system correctly.

Thanks....the above information is about 1,000% more than I knew prior to your reply.:)

being a 1985 model im sure it only has 1 fuel solenoid as the 2h does not run a return line ???
have a look under your drivers seat on top of the chassis the solenoid is there.
whats the problem with your one, im sure the solenoid worked before it left aus :)

i believe you are waiting on a blinker/headlight assembly ? one has been sourced and will be on it way after x mas

just a not, that bull bar is not a arb, it was made new by a company called baker and preme, they have now gone broke, they did a few arb copies, measure it up a pto may bolt into that bar i no they did a pto bar for 70x

not a bad truck, looks better now with a paint job

Geez....You don't have to rub it in.:)

Malaysia spec comes with one main tank only.:)
Is the aux tank really help in picking up more fuel for long distance?

I believe ( don't quote me on this ) that the aux tank is the same capacity as the main tank which in theory should double the range.

2 x 90 litre tanks, still standard on the 78 and 79 series today. There is an option to delete the 2nd tank, which is something the mining companies here do.

with 75x it was a option for the "extra pack" ,
snorkle, dual tanks.
you ordered the vehicle as a cab chassis then optioned up, a lot of standard 75x getting about withoput snorkle and long range tank, both 90L
even aircon was a extra.
other extras were diff locks, tow bar, bullbar ect ect

there is a lot of aftermarket suppliers about making quality gear for these vehicles

The dual tanks are standard in oz after 1995(when they got rear discs as well).
Before that all aux tanks were extra's. So it is most likely had a remote area history.
Not such a bad thing as they are often better maintained.
Mine was from Kalgoorlie but was probably in the outback as some kind of maintenance or supervisors vehicle for 3-4 years from new.
Luckily ,it looks to have one driver during that time

As herbs mentioned they are both officially 90 litre but the front tank will only take about 83 and the rear about 80 from empty which is kind of annoying.
The 75 series rear tank is identical to the 70,73,74 series single tank.

Yes ,it was great driving Perth to Alice Springs via Gt Central Road at the Easter long weekend in 2007.
When we hit the 1100klms dirt road stretch,we found out one of the 3 fuel stops was closed for the weekend, which meant about 750 klms between the 2 remaining fuel stops.
Most of the time I fill up both tanks when I see diesel cheap and it lasts me a month or more sometimes.
The fuel in the rear tank also acts as a damper for the HD springs when I dont have a load on.
The other benefits are if you put a hole in one tank or get contaminated fuel, you still have a spare tank(provided you didnt fill both tanks up at the same place)

Not sure about other countries, but the 90,120,80 and 105 series also had aux tanks here.

I appreciate the information. If nothing else, I am now fully up to speed on the fuel system.:D I am currently running diesel in the rear tank and bio-diesel in the front tank.

I feel your pain. I finally got my new solenoids on order and should be here after Xmas. I also got my new senders, worst part is I'll have to drop the rear tank because there is no access panel like the front:mad:

Is there anyway to calibrate the fuel gauges on my HJ75. When the front tank gauge shows empty the tank only takes approximately 11 US gallons to refill the tank to it's max capacity. The rear tank gauge appears accurate.
Thanks.......

Happy New Year!
I have no knowledge of this dual tank! Sorry! can't help.:bang:
If I have one on my 75, certainly is going to answer your doubt.

Happy New Year to you as well.
You got the jump on us....we still have one more day to go.
