Anyone out there have some part numbers for the tie rod ends on a 83 FJ60? I have my front end tore down and seemed like a good idea to replace them since its all apart...
Thanks!
Steve

get the kit from kurt at cruiseroutfitters

81-87 are the same. As stated, buy a kit from Kurt. Best value for Japanese made set. Joint Fuji is the OEM if you want to buy from SOR or FJparts.com

I'd go with what others on this site have recommended. I bought a pair of tie rod ends from Rock Auto and regretted it. Although they worked, both used different nuts, one side a castle nut and the other side was a staytite type of nut. And both were different sizes.

Used it and I'm sure they will work just fine but just seems like a real poor way of doing things.

Get the Japanese 555s from Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters. They work on FJ60/62 and seem to wear very well. It's been awhile, but Kurt had the Japanese 555s vs the Chinese 555s which I would not use unless there were not alternatives.

I had an impossible time finding them locally. Even the dealer had problems due to some part revision that required you to buy a kit.

Well, the dealer unfortunately requires you to buy the rod as well. So when you get the TRE's, you get the rods as well.

Just ordered the kit from Cruiser Outfitters; looking forward to installing them.

Not my choice of words, but have fun!

If they've been on since '83, you'll need lots of beer!

This puller, a big pipe wrench or two, some penetrant, and some heat will make it go fairly smoothly.

there is a way to identify china made triple 5 from Jap made triple 5 .. ?

Good questions, I've never had a China made TRE kit (555 or other) so I can't even confirm they were actually making them. There is a really good chance they were knock-off 555 joints boxed and sold as 555 through various vendors. Everything we get is well marked 'Made in Japan' and features the Toyota part numbers.
