Y'all's rig looks great! It's definitely a sense of accomplishment once you get it on the road again!

Yeah for sure. Like all cruiser its never quite done lol. I got a list started to fix the little things. Currently reading as many posts on turbo setups researching a/r etc... I also found out someone at some point took off our sway bar front and rear

Simply awesome, luv that interior:)

Btw I didn't think the early 60's came out with sway bars.

First of all, I really dig your 60. Maybe a little envious of your efforts, not going to lie.

On to business, I highly recommend Keith's turbo kit. His screen name is diesel42. Very nice guy and very easy to work with. I liked the fact he had science to back up his claims and while the kit is a bit more expensive than piecing it together, it's very much worth it. Send him a PM if you are interested.

And again, great work.

Awesome looking rig! Subscribed. Ive been thinking about de-chroming like you did, but might I humbly suggest blacking out your Land Cruiser badge? Personally I think it would complete the package.

Smart move on swapping bodies early on. You two really took this the distance and it shows. The interior is really nicely done as well - you should consider selling custom cruiser interiors :)

I thought about blacking out the badge too, I may also paint match it, I may even wrap the whole car. Yeah vszUnclear if I tell the wife that she might kill me, lol but it definitely wasn't the hardest part of the job.

Curious about everyone's mileage (general consensus seems to be around 22-25) we have been getting right about 16mpg (pretty bad from what others have reported). Where would you guys start trouble shooting that? I was thinking maybe the spring pressure in the injector nozzles has gotten soft and now they don't have a good pattern/ bad atomization? I ran a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner thought a tank but it didn't seem to help (at the suggestion of a local Diesel Mechanic). Although I do have to admit there were a few times (just 2) I purposely over fueled just cause someone was rid'in me arse in the slow lane (go around), funny how they stop doing that quickly when they're in a Diesel fog. Its like a big electric :flipoff2: we all wish we had at some point in the back window.

Also pretty sure it has stock gearing, stock tires on stock rims: 29" x 15" rims (properly inflated) and h55f trans. We do have hills to and from work most of the miles are freeway (around 45 per day) and average speeds between 60mph-70mph (try to keep it 4/5th gear mostly @ 2500rpm ish). Has no EDIC motor, its on a cable we're guessing at running stoich. My method for this is when starting the 60 after it has warmed up, pull our ip cable toward kill position until I see the rpm dip then gentle push the cable enough to smooth the idle back out and watch for black smoke while driving and adjust accordingly.

I wonder if it's running in the over-fuel position. When the key is turned to start on a vehicle with an EDIC, the 'lever' is pushed beyond run to over-fuel which (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I believe puts more fuel in than even pedal-to-firewall. I also understand that if a cable system is fitted (I don't know for sure as I've never done it - it's illegal here (!)) it is common practice to adjust it so that only off and run are selectable as over-fuel is not that necessary and is easily compensated for by a touch of throttle when starting.
Someone please correct me. I may have read this stuff incorrectly or communicated it poorly. Hope this makes some sense...

Great build guys! I'm jealous of the relationship, to be honest. My wife rolls her eyes every time I mention my Cruiser and refuses to ride in it, lol.
One request, could you post some close up pics of the tops of your door panels? I'm interested in seeing how you managed the holes in the top, using the custom panels.

Very fun, interesting, impressive thread. Thanks for the education.

Subscribed!

The only thing better than pictures of Land Cruisers is pictures of dogs in Land Cruisers.

yeah Ill post some close up in the day light, but after trying the original body panel clips, carpet tape, then construction adhesive, we finally settled on self taping screw with plastic covers (4 pack Black Screw covers from Home Depot .99cents, SS screws $7 for a box).

Thanks, I'm really interested in seeing your solution. Yall seem like a creative couple, so I'm sure it's something I haven't thought of, lol.

Gotta agree with that one, my :princess: Won't even drive in the car with or without me, lugs her 200 series:steer:

:cheers:Spudman

Yeah we tinted the windows and installed some vinyl graphics that I layed down using some knifeless tape its a really awesome product. I use it for wraps some times but mostly when doing stripes on hot rods and classic cars)
