If you ever head back to the dunes and are in North Bend/ Coos Bay let me know. My FJ43 is hanging out there and it would give me brother a good chance to take it out and enjoy it.

Excellent build up. That is Very Very nice. Still thinking the OM617 swap would be sweet but the 4BT is a great proven package.

Are those real beadlocks?

nice build up, i live in corvallis too! havent seen your cruiser around though, pm me maybe we could do some wheeling or wrenching!!!

Started sanding the hardtop down this weekend. I'll be ordering new seals and getting new hardware. i just can't decide what color to paint the top (fiberglass portion), black or the original white.... Any thoughts??

I would paint the top white, although you do have the black accent thing going on. Only thinking that it would get really hot in there with a black top.

Paint it black if you want to really get cookin' hot, make bird poop stand out, annoy purists and drive the re-sale value down...

Or paint the top cap white and the sides tan and represent one of the best cruiser colors proudly!!

I guess a white top and black sides would look pretty "bad" if you wanted the black out look.

Sweet rig. Love it!:D

I'd vote white for the top. I'm not a purist... Just trying to be practical. Much cooler.

Wow, Yes! This is absolutely perfect.

This is exactly what I want my truck to look like!! (minus the bumper).

I'm almost there! "On It's Way" is my thread, take a peak ;)

Thanks. I'd blame the bumper on a PO... But I was the "PO" who built that bumper back in 1992 while I was in deer country. Might change it some day:hhmm:, But it's low on the list.

I just went back and re-read this whole thread to refresh my memory on what all you did. Great job on a great looking 40.

How is the Ranger OD working out for you? Is it as noisy as some people have reported? Do you think that an electric solenoid in place of the shift lever and a switch on the tranny shift knob would work? If so I think that would be a lot handier than dual shift levers.

Iv'e been collecting parts to do a 6.2 diesel, 700R4, 203 doubler in my 40. But, with my experiences this last hunting season with my 94 P.U., 6.5TD, and 4L80E tranny i'm reconsidering things and thinking of 6.2 diesel, Ranger OD, Toyota four speed, and 3.73 gears. Wish I could afford a 4BT, but I already have everything except the Ranger. I don't do any hardcore wheeling so I'm looking for good MPG for DDing my 40.

Outstanding!!!

I completely blown away by your rig! That is pretty much exactly what I have in mind, though I can't afford it.

I recently bought a mod'd 1976 FJ40 with a V8 Small Block, unfortunately, I too am a diesel fanatic.

WELL DONE!

I used OMNI (PPG) epoxy primer with 6 coats of single stage acrylic enamel. The O/D is working better than I would of imagined. I have a gear for every situation. The noise of the O/D isn't an issue due to the fact there is a 4BT drowning out any other noise. If it was behind a 2F, you would hear it for sure. I'm priming the hard top this week and painting next week. My new seals and door catches should be here in a few days. I can't wait to have the hard top on, I haven't driven the FJ in almost 2 months! Not much fun to drive in the rain and cold as she sits....

I finally got the hard top painted, resealed and installed. I still need to adjust the rear doors, the 4bt shakes them pretty good. Found a leak in my rear heater so I will need to find a replacement....

Good weatherstripping and a roof liner( if you don't have one yet) will help the noise . The 40's get a little louder with the top on.

Nice work

It does have the roof liner and all new weather stripping on the doors (front and rear) and the top is completely resealed. I retightened the hard top bolts and readjusted the rear doors. MUCH better! I finally took the rear heater out to drop off at the radiator shop (inlet cracked at base) and low and behold, my wiper motor gave up the ghost. Now I need a wiper motor, horn relay and the rear heater repaired. One thing after another now that I started daily driving it...
