Thanks for all the replies! Heat must be the key. Was worried about firing up the oxy torch next to the windshield, with glass, rubber etc. in close proximity, but ordered the induction heater off Amazon. Will report back

If you're worried about tearing up your paint, a torch and or an induction heater are not going to be kind to the finish.

I have found these items to be very handy. The vessel screwdriver is meant to be tapped on and it has accommodations to use a adjustable wrench to turn it. Soak the bolts with Kroil over night. Insert your JIS screwdriver & tap it till it's seated,. At that point you can try to tighten it before loosening. It helps to have a second set of hands to tap on the screwdriver. This is a slow but sure method.

I used a hand impact driver that others recommended here on mud. Link below. It came with JIS bits. Took some time, but did the job.
