I didn't think it would take me two years to do this update. Mostly done, still want to paint the front turn signals red, fix two oil leaks, and finalize the seat belts, and a couple of other small things.
One thing that i am looking for-I dont know what it looks like but I know I need one. My wagon is a late 67 model with the taller windshield, i think the proper rear view mirror has a place for the visors to hook into. If anyone has a extra or a photo of one, I would be interested. Still have a couple of LV parts to trade??
Driving the wagon has been fun, the stock Toyota suspension is so smooth, off road no problem, then straight to 65 mph on the hwy (i know that isn't new news
).
Still want to keep the wagon looking good, but its a Land Cruiser so its been out doing some mellow wheeling. There are a lot of old or abandoned logging/jeep roads all around me. Nothing crazy, big water bars, gorilla skull size rocks, some washed out creeks.
Took it camping a couple of times, fits all the gear we need, and two people and a dog can sleep in the back with the tail gate down. Im not to sure about 6 people and gear like it says in the 1964 advertisement

.
So the first summer that it was drivable I got a call from a local contractor, who has a really nice house on the lake. He said there was a photo shoot for a back to school catalog going on, and they were looking for a old truck for some of the photos.
Long story short, Pottery Barn Teen was doing a photo shoot for their back to school,winter/fall catalog. I sent them some photos of my Cruisers, of course the wagon was picked out. I did two half days with them, one day near Donner Summit, the next was at a lake front house (Lake Tahoe) just off the hwy that goes around the lake. So this was in June, it was about 89 deg outside,we were on the side of the hyw in the contractors driveway. They made the shoot look like it was a nice December day at 29 deg. They surrounded the wagon with biodegradable paper snow, took their photos and that was it.
I cant believe the budget that advertisement has. They took tons of photos, there was a full crew of prop, hair, and anything else people, there was food. The guy who did the snow was a professional fake snow guy from L.A.
