Meaning the "capitalists" are bad?

Keep the truck. No way you should ever sell a $300 FJ45 unless youre ordered to do so by the wifey.

He was referring to VOR.

Sell the wifey before you sell a $300 FJ45! If she is that un-understanding, you two aren't a match! :D

Fj45

"If you sell this thing, you will regret it FOREVER! That is unless you're just another capitalist."

I agree completely with this. I would regret it forever and be mad at myself. My only thought on selling was a bit of guilt to be honest. Can I do a good job at home with this 45 smiling at me in the garage just begging for hours of TLC?

Answer is for me: Coffee and lot's of it.

Luckily I called a elderly neighbor and arranged to store my FJ40 there until...2008 or? That way my wife's 80 is back in the garage and the restoration can begin today. I decided today that I will keep it. It may take me 3+ years to fully restore it but what the heck.

I remember calling Mark's offroad with multiple questions about FJ45's. Thanks for the tips Mark. I have driven many country roads in the last few years hoping to find a 45, 55, or another 40. I guess hanging around rural farm towns finally paid off.

I look at the pictures posted with this thread and others and I just drool. I can't wait to start this thing. I was calling around today for places that will soda blast this thing at lunch time.

I agree with the posts that said do it right first 100% and I plan on keeping this stock or as close as possible.

The search for parts begins now..

Hey Texican....Can I post parts needed here or on the parts wanted area?

thanks again

Wife and FJ45

It took a couple of years and three cruisers for her to understand. I can't blame her for being a bit mad. I show at 330am with a flatbed trailer and a new cruiser. I pull out the FJZ80 and push the FJ45 inside.

In her shoes, I would be mad. But that is now resolved.

thanks

hey CruiserBrett

I meant this question for cruiserBrett. Sorry new to this side of the world.

Aaron, post up your needed parts in the classifieds of THIS forum. Sound's like we'll both be playing with the FJ45's. You with a pickup and me with a wagon! If you need something that seems unobtainium stateside, let me know. I hope to head to a 'Cruiser wrecker in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in a couple of weeks. No beds though, too big to bring back.

I could care less, like I said, the move was not for breaking the rules or anything like that, I just knew it would get attention here.
Butch

for $300..........SCORE! :)

but its not a 67, proilly more like a 65, 66+ did not have the vent on the window.

hood might "should" have the window hold downs......so it not holes then it came off of a different cruiser, like a early FHT or a 45LV

I like the flat bed.

There is an FJ45 for sale/wanted subsection for the forum. Use that for FJ45 specfic stuff, and the normal wanted section for the generic 40 series parts...

Riddler you got a nice project and you got a hell of deal. Most of the stuff can still be had. Start with easy stuff.....the bed will eventually pop up when you least expect it. Enjoy it, I have been trying to find for the last three years.

and yours in not a 67 either, its a late 64. Like I and others have mentioned before, most the early cruisers are titled a year or more later than they were made, Cruisers were not hot sellers in the early-mid 60's, many times they sat on the lot for over a year.

1965

thanks again to Pimp and the others who have encouraged me to work on this thing and keep it. When I first started looking at it, I thought wow what a ton of work. My FJ40 ran when I bought it. To buy a non runner is a whole different game.

I thought it was a 1967. I guess it is a 1965.

Do I need the short running boards?

My FJ40 has sliders in place of running boards.

thanks again to everyone

Aaron

I will have to look at the frame # compared to my parts book, but my guess is that it uses the longer running boards, like my 65 fj40 and 66 fj45. Actaully I think all the 45 removeable tops(long or short) use the longer running board

running boards

Pimp- I can also snap a photo of the area under the doors if it helps..

Thanks for the help.

That is sort of a bonus as the longer boards are more common right?

Aaron

I think they use the longer running boards too. I think our frame numbers are real close. I've got an extra set of 65 running boards tucked away somewhere. Have to look when I get back from DV.

running boards

Mark-

Sounds good. Just let me know. I dug up a set of long running boards from a FJ40 and the holes to mount do not match at all.

Obviously I'd prefer 100% stock.

thanks

Aaron
