Want to make sure the kids know theres more out there than the standard Detroit junk ;p

Matt

Up until now I was just a groupie but with that statement I am a true believer now. Have fun tomorrow.

Just got back from the big car show, figured I would post a few pics. :)

Gorgeous day, 70 degrees and sunny, couldn't be any better. They also had an excellent turn out, over a 100 cars...and for around here (or anywhere for that matter) that's pretty good.

Few glamour shots when we were there, also shined up the 77 FJ40 and had that on display next to the lv. My wife and I made a book for a 3 ring binder this morning that had about 50 or so pics that showed a quick story from start to finish. That was fun to see people look at and see and hear there respones.

Few pics of the other stuff that was there, 70 Ford Bronco showed up, that was nice to see some other 4x4 stuff.

Last couple pics are pretty cool I thought.....the 1 pic is of a guy lifting up his son to take a look on the inside, he really wanted to see it bad.

The other is of my wife walking away with the award, "Best in show, local" When we entered this morning I put my name on the 40 on her's on the 45, since it's hers of course. That was a huge suprise to both of us to hear her named called!? Needless to say it was a fun day either way and was even better for her to drag home some hardware the first time out and the first time she got to drive it.

Surprised??

Were there any cars there that you felt were nicer than your? Personally I'm not surprised one bit. Congrats on the award.

Was there an overall "Best in show"? If so, was that vehicle actually nicer than yours?

Not a lot done on the lv today...I had big plans to get all my weatherstripping around the windows in, but got side tracked helping my neighbor getting something for his 40 Ford project.

You can see in the pics the stuff I got from JC whitney for the outside door glass and the inside. I had to completely remove the window frames and the windows to get them in. I used the little clips off the old ones, which were still amazingly in good condition. Not to much to tell, but took time.

I got the 2 front doors done, still have the 2 rears. Hopefully get to those tomorrow or the next day or so. The wife and I did manage to drive the lv to the local food drive in this evening for supper, that was pretty fun.

Last few pics of are my neighbor and the other 40 ford he got. There is a pic from the car show of his 40 Ford project that he brought to the car show on a trailer as a work in progress. While he was there an older guy started talking to him and telling him that he had one out back in the woods. My neighbor was interested because the doors he has are really, really bad. We went and looked and you wouldn't know it by the pics, but the doors on this one are absolutely straight with very little to no rust. So after a few dollars exchanged hands we borrowed some loaders and got it on his trailer. He already got the doors off this evening and a few other parts he needed.....he's thinking he might just fire up the ebay and try to get rid of the rest.

Anyway, few pics of some other stuff he had. 32 ford pick up and also a 31 or 34 international pick up. Both yellow, or at least what's left. ;)

On the door glass weather stripping, going to post some part #'s.

I should have been doing it on the other stuff I have uses since several of you guys have PM'd me :) I'll post up more part #'s of the other stuff, but for now here are the JC Whitney part #'s for the pics above.

Hi Dave,

Wife was having fun all day talking about the lv, it was a good day :)

Yes, there was an overall, "Best in show". The guy had actually came out of Canada about 300 miles away.....not sure of the exact year or model, but it was a 2 door mid 50's Chevy product. Sorry no pics, but yes, it was nicer than mine. The thing was absolutely imaculate!! Inside and out it looked like it had been pulled right off a magazine cover. So as much as I would have loved to win overall, this guy deserved it more than me.

Regardless, fun just being there and talking about the lv and looking at all the other nice iron :D

Thanks, Matt

ooh ooh Mike, me wants. when do t-shirts go on sale?

About an hour or so on the lv tonight.....pulled the rear window frames out of the rear doors. I cut up the weather stripping and got the rest of it installed, so now all 4 doors are done. Popped all the interior panels on...they may have to come off, but that's easy.

My neighbor was working on his 40 ford. He got those doors off that rig we got yesterday, I was over helping him bolt them up to his and see how they fit.

Also started seriously thinking about my rear bumper. Not looking for stock here, looking for something strong that can take a rear impact and also pull some heavy equipment along with other water toys to the lake.

Fabbed up a few drawings in paint....they are crude and just my initial thoughts, but give me your ideas. 3/8" thick plate fastened at 4 points on the frame, comes out the rear and 2" hole drilled through all 4 an a 2" tube welded in. Reviever hitch somehow mounted and welded below.

This is a complete bolt on hitch, 8 - 1/2" holes will have to be drilled in the frame / 2 per plate, but no welding.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Matt
