Just got back from about 2.5 hours of low level re-con out over the lake :D I know this stuff has nothing to do with my lv.....actually it does, since it takes time away from it........but regardless, I see this stuff all the time and I think it's cool, figured you guys might enjoy it also :)

Flew up to the Northwest angle today, basiclly the furthest most north point in the conitental US, few pics of Canadian islands to the north ;p There was a poker run for snowmobiles, so there were 100's of sleds out on the lake today going from resort to resort. I landed up at one of them for lunch, few pics of the back country stuff up here......

Took a pic of another plane out on the lake on skis, I think it was a cessna 170, but not sure, didn't get that close.

Also took a pic of the immigrations check point...........that little out house that says, "immigration customs reporting station". You know your in the sticks when you hit the border and you have to be, "on the honor system" if you want to check in or not :D

Anyway, I stopped in the store before I went home and thought I better use the high speed connection to post a few pics.

Now, I better go work on the cruiser so I can post some of those pics this evening. ;)

I said I was going to do some work on the lv today and I did :)

First of all, got back to the house and the mail man had dropped of a suprise. I opened the box and the, "blingo meter" in my garage went off!! Shane, you are the man     Those plated parts are the sh-t! It looks like brand new stuff, didn't get a chance to put them in, hopefully tomorrow. Also, got your other part you want me to work on, going to PM with a question on that shortly :)

Put my cup holders back together and mounted them back on my center console, I think it looks real nice.

Also cleaned out all the paint in my hinges with a tap in the cordless drill and then installed those on the wagon. Doors will be a while yet, going to wait until I'm done wiring.

Not to butt in on the thread here, but yours is coming along nicely also Gary.

Hijack over.

Pretty much a full day on the lv today, sorta all over the place.

Started off the day by installing those freshly plated headlight assemblys, sweet....Then made a part for the driver side fender where the power steering area was that I had drilled out. Made a paper template and then fabbed on up out of steel. I just tacked it in for now, when I take the fender out to jam it I'll finish weld it.

Moved onto my tranny cooler lines. I used some stainless steel braided stuff I had ordered a few weeks ago. I ran them up the frame and directly through my engine mounts. I have to order a couple different size adel clamps, but should work good.

And then a suprise, my auto mechanic buddy showed up, and he wanted to start wiring!! He was over at my place for about 3 to 4 hours and we got quite a bit done. It took a good hour to get a game plan, but we started pulling wire. He was able to get most of the steering column stuff done and a few other things. Pretty much all the wires are pulled through where they need to be. He gave me a parts list before he left, misc. things I need to pick up and get done before he comes back. He's thinking maybe Tuesday night again, we won't finish Tuesday, not even close (he's thinking this a 20 to 30 hour job), but he does think we might be able to turn it over with the key? ;p That should be fun!

Also, the seat belts out of the 79 were pretty sun faded and what wasn't was grey in color. Had the wife mix up a batch of RIT clothing dye and dye the seat belts black, few pics of those outside, look pretty much new.

Its looking awesome Matt. By far the best I've ever seen.
Gary

I've been following your build in the hardcore forum Gary.....I think all you have to do is look in your garage.

That is a pretty sweet ride you got going yourself :)

Matt

Its not even close to the detail work you have done on yours. I wish I had the patience. The wiring was the easy part for me as thats my thing, but body work and paint puts me at the mercy of my checkbook. Again, I wish I had the patience.
Good job.

Man, you could sell those plates for skinning in the drive's fender when the steering box is removed. That's always bugged me about trucks when people do the saginaw or 60 conversion.....big gaping hole in the fender well left over, that and most people don't do a very clean job of hacking the fender for the 60 series conversion. Maybe you could just bend up a whole inner fender for 60 series ps conversions and sell that. :)

Got another full night on the lv tonight, but really not much for pics.

Lots of little stuff, my mechanic buddy left me a to-do list and that's what I was doing. Got all my clamps on my coolant hoses. I had to make up cables from the battery to the engine and tranny, also postive wire to the starter. I used a 4 gauge wire and ran it around the front x-member in front of the radiator, I think you can see a semi decent pic??

I made up a new fuel pick up at work today. The stock one was some time of compresion fitting, but the threads were unlike anything I had in the store?? It was just easier to make a new one, used a 1/4" street elbow, 1/4" MPT to 3/8" barb and then used a 1/4" brass tube and soldered it into the street elbow. This evening I installed it and ran tubing from the fuel tank up to the fuel pump inside the frame rail.

Had to install a water temp sensor in the intake manifold, I had an oil presure sensor, but the one I got couldn't fit underneath the distributor, have to do some checking on that tomorrow?

Hoping I can get my mechanic buddy over tomorrow night for some more wiring, we'll see?

Where did you get that tlarge stainless hose on the top of the engine?

Summit. I believe it is a 20" or 22", 1.5" on each end, the brand might be Spectre, not sure on the spelling??

The radiator I got from Man-e-fre had a 1.5" neck on it. I also got the billet aluminum adjustable neck on the top from Summit in a 1.5"

Hope that's what you needed?

Matt

Buck:
Make sure your ground path is complete. You need from battery to frame, battery to body, battery to engine, engine to frame. If you don't, bad things will happen.
I had a truck that ate three distributor ignitors while I tried to fiure out that the engine to frmae (or was it engine to body? long time ago) was missing. The gourn will find it's won path, many times thru things you don't like, if not provided a proper path...
