what a great old cruiser. glad you going the original path. check out things over on the fj25 page; some great info on early and original over there. destins epic resto thread from a few yr ago is 64 as is andy budge current resto.

didnt even notice it was probably a factory soft top, which is why so much mismatching of colors/parts

has a darn near new looking tin can brake master on it

That may very well be it. I get the impression he used whatever paint he had laying around, or maybe he was just color blind.
Yes the Brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and Brake shoes were just replaced by previous owner.

does it have 2 eye bolts behind the killer defrost ducts?

its been about 10+ years since you could get that master new, but it looks super fresh

I haven't looked that close on the defrost ducts, I'll have to check, when I get back down to the shop.
The master cylinder was NOS, the old guy was a bit fanatical, and bought many duplicate/spare parts over the years, unfortunately not all of them were included in the sale. It was fortunate for me the Brake master cylinder failed just before he listed it.

Tomorrow during daylight I will dig out the wheels to see just how many I have. I will PM you with that info.

Don

ps- I just went back to read some of the earlier posts. If Landpimp has the wheels you need he would probably be a better source for early rivited wheels. He's almost in your backyard.

Thanks, I agree. I'll have to check with him.

or I can hook you up with NEW OEM wheels locally in Tacoma for under $100. Personally I would not bother with the riveted wheels, even on a totally stock resto. But that also depends on what you are going to do with the brakes, stay stock or go disc

I'm retaining the drum brakes, so the original used would be fine if you have them.
Thanks again

Love the earlies!

Found this top locally on Craigs List..for $200.00 felt it was a good price (between my now two tops, I should be able to come up with a decent top).
