I have a 1962 FJ40. Currently I have soft doors that are sun rotting the canvas. These doors are very basic, that have a up/down plexi-glass window. Living in CO, a

I would like to know my options or advice for this older FJ40.

1) Should I re-skin the soft doors for about $400 a pop (each side)?

2) Go with half-doors - and can you get these hard or soft? And would these be Toyota or aftermarket?

3) Should I get real full length solid doors from another year? What years of doors would be compatible with a 1962?

Thanks in advance.

You will not be able to get steel doors unless you make them custom using fj40 steel doors or from scratch... You have a early FST fj40 with the same door opening as the fj25's ... You should count yourself very lucky to even have soft doors :)

Somebody is willing to even attempt to re canvas them ... Count yourself lucky :)

Welcome to Mud ... What's your vin number on that thing... We are keeping a registry of cruisers and seeing howmany early ones still exist :)

BTW looks like they have been done before at some point... That little window next to the sliding window has been added to your doors

Post some better pictures. Those might not even by factory doors. There are no OEM or aftermarket options that I know of.

Here is a 1962 FST tub with hard top and hard doors. I got extra early doors and was going to do this, but decided would eventually go with soft doors I will make, since I would rarely have a top on.

X2 what Johnny said he just didn't direct you to the 25 section which is towards the bottom of the main page. A few threads there on early soft top and doors. I'm guessing when your doors were redone they didn't do them like original. Like mention the little window in back is not stock. I thinking it would be less to have them skinned again. What is going to coast is the weather stripping around the outer edge. Toyota sold that cheap years ago, now the only source I know is SOR and it's not cheap. They are pictures of the original canvas in the 25 section I can post more it needed. I have one set that the canvas is trashed. Keeping stock until I get my second redone so I have a reference.

Hello, good morning, I hope you are well, I would like to know if anyone could help you. I have a 1962 Fj40 that I bought without the OEM doors, I was able to get them but they are disassembled and incomplete. I would like to know if anyone has any idea of the mechanism or photos of how to lower the glass.

The window regulator for this door will be very hard to find. There is the possibility that some will be reproduced, but no word on that at this time.
Looks like you have F and a broken off part of L
