its the original 1971 pedal assembly. I'm not sure what type of cable it is but it is attatched to a Rochestor Quadrajet

Quick update. I finally got my FJ home this weekend. Body work is great. I'll try to get some pics to post tomorrow. Now time to get in gear and get this thing driving. Still have a ways to go, but hoping to have it road going by the end of the Summer.

Finally getting around to posting a few pics since getting her home. Body work turned out very nice. Hopefully getting the brake lines and wiring finished in the next couple of weeks.

that thing looks so nice
some day soon ill have mine done :wrench::beer:

Looking nice. Can't remember do you have any top for this? If you have any limit on how many pictures you can post I' sure myself few others would gladly post them for you. The reason I say that you deleted the original pictures of when you got it. Which would be nice to show a true before and after. Are you planning on using the opening on the driver's side apron? I know somebody who would have probably traded a non-hole apron for it.

By any chance did you ever get any pictures of the original transmission and transfer case?

Thanks for the compliments. I think the color turned out nice. The body man had the idea to do the grill and trim pieces in a charcoal gray with a satin clear coat, rather than just gloss black like I had told him to do. Turned out much better than I thought.

I don't have a top, yet. Been reading the posts on how to modify an aftermarket soft top to fit. Would rather find a real soft top and soft doors.

LITP, I am not planning on using that opening in the apron, don't even know what it's for. It had a plug in it when I got it. Can you shed some light? I am planning on plugging it back, but the original plug has been lost somewhere.

Sorry, I have not gotten the pics of the transmission yet. Going to my Dad's this weekend, I'll write myself a note to remember to get some pictures. He is ready to get it moved anyway.

That hole is for the fresh air to the original oil bath air cleaner. It was on the FJ25 and 1961 FJ40. The piece that fit on the inside was a elbow that had a hose that attached to that and the opening on the oil bath air cleaner. They was trim ring on the outside that held a bug screen. The apron without the hole are pretty easy to find. One from a pre 68 would be correct. 67azcruizer is looking for one of those but I bet he want the eblem and trim ring to go with it.

There was a FJ25 here locally that was being restored in ashop. The owner of the 25 worked there. It had a aftermarket top and doors that fit this body style. Looked very close to the one on my white FJ25. Number 13 in count the 25s thread. The guy wasn't sure but did think he was going to use the top and it needed some work. The guy ended up going to work some where else and then moved to Florida. The guy's bother in-law had the twenty to finish it up for him. I had gotten a few things off the 25. The last time I spoke to the bother in-law he said the top was still at the shop. I called the shop only to find out they had moved and threw the top and doors out:crybaby:. To me the best option is to get the factory soft top bows and doors for a later FJ40 and modify them to fit. Then get the canvas from OCDbeetle. Finding the OEM soft doors and a pattern are gooding to be a problem. Plus last I heard OCDbeetle was going thru a divorce and production had slow. He did make one for Cruiser_Nerd (Jim) so he has the pattern. But to me still the best bet.

A couple of pictures of the top in this thread. You will also see both Jim's and Mike's FJ25s have the intake hole in the driver's apron.

Thanks for all the info. My mistake, I thought you were talking about the small hole in the cowl near the windshield hinge, about 1" in diameter. I do have the trim ring and elbow for the hole in the apron, and the original screen, but will be replacing that with a stainless screen. I had all of the trim and elbow parts for the apron hole painted to match the cruiser, but haven't put them on yet.
Any idea what the hole in the cowl is for, is it original? You can see it in the first picture.

Keep the pictures and updates coming and definitely let us know what you do for the top and doors. I am many months away from needing them, but my 1962 FST will need a top and doors. Doors being the main problem.

Finally, here are some pics of the original engine, transmission, and t-case. The engine isn't exactly original, when we opened the hood there was a big "Chevrolet" valve cover. I ran the numbers, and the engine is from a 1955-57 pickup. But, the tranny and t-case are correct and have the original vaccuum and mechanical linkage.

LITP, I took some other pics, let me know if there is something specific that you want to see.

Thanks for the pictures of the transmission. That is a newer mid 63 thru early 74 three speed set up. Very common for, the original to be replaced since these are hard to find parts for. I am interest in the old screen if you still have. Also curious how you plan on using the intake on apron with the V8.

CJ did you see the doors on this thread?

home brew .... and a really good job at that

I have not seen that, but have that as one of my options. ocdbeetle said he could make a top for these model and provide extra material for the door. When time comes I was thinking about seeing if ocdbeatle could do a piece of material with a zip window already sowed into it. Then I could do a frame like the post you provided. So this is an option for hunter61. He will likely be looking for a top years before me.

I am having problems with the linkage from the pedal to the new brake booster. I have installed the adapter from JTO with a booster and mc from an 81 mini-truck. Now, the connector rod is about an inch too short to connect to the brake pedal. Can any of you tell me if you have had this problem, and what did you do to fix it?

Thanks for the help.

I am finally getting some work done on the LC, and taking the time to update here. I started it for the first time last week. Below is a link to a video of me starting it about the third time. I still need exhaust, interior, windshield, bumpers, roll bars, and a few other small parts, but overall getting pretty close to driving.
Let me know what you think.

Nice, I guess my speakers on my laptop are under where my hands rest, It made my laptop really vibrate, never felt that before. Made for a much more dramatic moment when it started. Looks and sounds great.
