Is the 19 spline “pattern” (pitch and diameter) on the 80-89 “split” case the same as 19 spline pattern on the 80’s HF2A? (Obviously the length is different)

(I am trying to find a source for a spud shaft)

I don’t have an answer but I have wondered the same thing before. Interested in what you come up with.

Are you referring to the HF2A from an 80?

Are you referring to the splines or the t-case input gear?

My A343F has a 19 spline output shaft that goes into my HF2A.

I am asking if the 19 splines on the transmission output shaft for the earlier 80-89 case is the same diameter and pitch as the 80 case.

I see tons of adapters for the “19 spline case from 80-89”. I am wondering if the spud shafts designed for that kit can be cut down in length to fit in HF2A. If I can get past that hurdle, I can build my own adapter.

I'm not familiar with an H2AF, at least not tonight??

Every US spec 80 I know has the HF2A or HF2AV:
Difference between HF2A & HF2AV transfercase

As for the shaft. The 80+ split case uses a 19 spline shaft with a ~1.38" major diameter. I've not tried to put a the 19 spline trans output shaft from a H41/42/55 into an 80's input shaft so I can't comment as such. While it appears the OD is correct, the spline angle and geometry may differ. I've got split t-case input gears here in a half dozen flavors. If one of these will slip over your 19 spline shaft, we can assume the aftermarket spud shaft would fit into the 80's input as well.

Ahh! I get alphabet soup scrambled sometimes :bang:

Next time I’m in SLC, I bring up the A343F. Thanks!

Come to think of it we can work the other direction too, I have a bunch of H42/H55F transmissions here with the 19 spline output, bring your t-case input shaft and we can see if it will slide on the back of an older 80-90 era transmission.

Just bring your t-case input shaft and we can see if it slides on the back of an older trans, that will verify the direction you're hoping to go.
