1997 LC 4,000 miles $170k. Supposedly CarMax bought it for $60k

Fools and their money.... Congratulations to the seller, a tidy sum.

I'm always fascinated by stories like this. I'd love to hear how this '97 managed to make it 24 years and only have 4k miles on it.

I also wonder how seals have worn, steel has oxidized and parts have failed compromising its ability to purr like once before.

And how much bad gas has been run through it. Cars like this that sit for extended times usually need the fuel system parts replaced.

Yeah, i've always heard it's bad for a vehicle to just sit and not have things move around and lubricated regularly. I'm imagining some little old lady that bought it new and then just drove it a mile or two down to the market once a week, took it in for regular oil changes, and otherwise left it parked in a garage, leaving it in pristine condition.

Perfect specimen for Jay Leno’s garage

$170k with 4k miles? Even so that seems extremely steep. Its not even triple locked. What a time to hustle though, there is so much money flying around right now.

Either a scam/shill/fake bid (to drive prices up) or the person who bought it had invested $10,000 into Bitcoin ten years ago when it was @ $1 per coin (which would now be worth ~$400,000,000).

LOL anyone putting 10K into it already had millions in the bank.. and/or most likely sold when it it 10 or 100. Although know of someone who received a few hundred dollars as payment for certain items... and forgot they had it until it was at like 2k and worth around 2 mill.

But yeah, when you got money there are worse things to spend it on. This is a functional art piece. A conversation starter. And hey, you might get your money back because 10 years from now there will be even more people out there looking to spend money.
