Nice drawers, custom built ?
I got them from SHW, right when the started selling them. They came bare, but I finished them myself and stained them to kind of match the Lexus interior stain.

Unfortunately they've gone up in price by 30%+ since I bought them. Still, I'm a crappy finish carpenter, and they are nicer than I could have built on my own, and they are much lighter than metal drawers :).

Walked out to my rig to find a much younger cousin nearby.

There are several companies that make an aftermarket door mount for the GX470. I'm spacing on their names at the moment, but somebody else will probably chime in.

JW Offroad on my 460, think some 470 owners run them too

I run one on my 470. Had it on for about 4 years now.
As above, there are a few aftermarket manufacturers, so yeah it's possible!!
There are probably more threads on the subject, but here's one ;)

IIRC, Becky (AC Garage) was the first.
Consider how big of a tire you want to mount, stocker, or upsized to 33" or 35", weight starts messing with hinges and sheet metal.
I'd love to hear more longer term reviews of the different aftermarket kits available here!! I'm considering a door mount, but wonder about compatible fitment with a Gobi ladder...

Overseas , some Prado 120s had tires mounted on the rear door stock (and i think those rigs had a higher capacity or aux tank in the spare location stock). Those Prado rear doors differ from teh GX rear door, AND some prado 120s did NOT have the tire mounted on the door, and those doors seem quite similar tot he GX USDM rear door.

My JW Off-road one has been fine. I got one of their first ones in 2020 and the welds on the neck started to rust last year. I live in Louisiana so rust isn’t a problem and that concerned me. Anyway, contacted them and they sent me an updated neck for free. It was shorter and I’m assuming that helped with leverage from the tire.

If I were to do it again, I would either get a whole bumper set up with swing arm or get JW’s swing out that mounts to through the factory bumper.

👆Good beta👆

Also wondering if anyone has a JW or Becky WITH an aftermarket bumper....

Agreed, having seen the Prado in person myself in Europe, it has nowhere near the presence of a GX470. It looks like a funky Japanese SUV rather than a luxury off-roader. Oddly, the Prado 150 and GX460 are switched - the 150 - particularly with a TRD-style grille....looks way better than a GX460 with it's spindle-style architecture.

However, the 6MT is awesome. The "ultimate" swap would be one of these with a GX470 front clip and a UZ swap :). Or, swap the 6MT into a GX using Prado parts. Maybe....just maybe that is possible to do if someone can figure out the electronics. I often wish my GX had a 6MT in it, it would be a blast to drive with a V8 and may honestly be better for towing anyway.

It won't be uglier than the 4th generation 4Runner, the pre-facelift Prado 150, or the GX generations.

Certainly subjective, but my opinion is that the 120 Prado is the weirdest-looking out of that bunch. I actually quite like the 4th gen 4Runner, and the pre-facelift 150 Prado probably looks great with an aftermarket bumper on it.

Since the GX470 shares the same engine as the LC100, the swap is possible, but it may only fit the same transmission as the LC100, which is a five-speed transmission.

The UZ-MT swap has been done in a Tacoma, so it's possible. Electronics would be a nightmare, but knowing the MT existed in a 120 Prado makes it seem a bit more likely. Still, likely a pipe dream without hundreds of hours in figuring it all out.
