What all did you have to swap over? I’ve seen a few thread but nothing concrete: oil pan, and throttle body?
Go back and read the thread "The Unicorn" I gave you. In it, I used a GX470 VVTi engine. It shows what all needs to be swap over.

If you go to my master thread. (link in signature line). Look under engines. You find more info, you may find helpful.

Sorry if I missed some details but I think you said the timing belt is intact. What’s preventing it from starting up? I’d rally the dog**** out of it before rolling over and buying a new engine. Mechanics do what mechanics do and they’ll find all sorts of evidence that an engine is ‘broken’ but a lot of Toyotas just run anyway out of spite. Just top up the fluids and drive it while you shop for a replacement. People are crashing really great rigs all the time. A donor is out there but I’d want to see a rod hanging out of the side of the block before I declared my engine done.

That’s the biggest question I have. I have no clue unless maybe it jumped timing or is literally seized up. I might soak the cylinders and do just that. I have nothing to lose
