I want to buy some of these. Anyone know where to get them or have any they want to sell?

Thanks,
CWR33

Eww. Why?
Have you considered mounting KC lights on your hood?

Moral of the story? You need 35s and both a suspension and body lift!

No doubt!

Personally, I'm not rock crawling with my truck or anything, so some of these for cosmetics actually don't look all that bad. I say go for it, just be careful on trails if you take it down any
(says the guy with the damage multiplier on my truck...)

Soooo what's wrong with the "cosmetics" the way it sits. I'm mean really, if this is a look you like than go for it but take a step bake and ask yourself if it really looks good and why you want to spend the money on it. Ultimately it's yours and no one will second guess you...well actually they will but they will get over it. Just realize that there are a lot of negatives and even the looks are questionable to most people.

Nothin really, a Land Cruiser is a good lookin truck! I was just trying to offer him at least a little support instead of ripping him to shreds like everyone else... For example, I have a brush guard on the front of my truck. Most people would say that's dumb and totally "mall crawler", but I mean I need somewhere for my KC's, and my truck doesn't go a week without some sort of offroading, and I actually think takes away from the luxury look and gives it a more "manly" look, but maybe that's just me :meh:
To the OP, do whatever makes you happy. Acknowledge that these can bring more damage to your truck, but if you don't have to worry about that, then go for it! You like the look of it, slap em on! Be individual, because it seems like the consensus among the group is to avoid them at all costs. Buy em off one of the fellow members, put some money in their pocket andgets you what you had wanted, everyone's happy

2 pages on tail light guards, hilarious
OP, if you like them, put em on, just beware, they can snag on things.

Just to clarify, these are for an LX

My truck came with the light guards and I just got around to pulling them off yesterday. Based on what I saw, I wouldn't use them.

They were screwed into the tailgate with sheet metal screws. So now there are four extra holes in the tailgate. Probably not a huge deal, but I don't like unnecessary holes in the body. Now I need to find something to seal and plug them.

1999 manik tail light guards

Hi - who knows where can I get these tail light guards for my 99 Land cruiser?

I think one of the issues is that if you happen to bump into something with your tail light (and I have), the tail light is designed to break but save the bodywork. With the tail light guards, you are directing all of the impact force to the body work, thus increasing the damage zone. It is more expensive to repair the rear quarter panel than to pop a new tail light into place. Think of it as a rear damage multiplier.

At the end of the day it is your truck and you really should pay us no mind as long as you are pleased with the results.

Very well said Paul!

Had a pair but they went in the dumpster at work along with the factory brush guard.

These are good for hanging your skivies to dry after an afternoon of swiming or other wet skivies type activites.

You can also weave pine needles around them to be holidayish during christmas.

They also serve as a good ladder for the neighborhood gnomes trying to get to your rooftop.

that's some funny s*** right there:)

@CWR33 - I have personal experience with these. i had Manik tail light guards and a brush guard up front. BOTH did damage to my Bronco (years ago, before i saw the light). in the middle of a 4 car pile-up, not at speed - i was stopped, and someone rear ended me and pushed me in to the car in front of me - it was enough to bend the flimsy brush guard into the hood, crumpling the hood, bending the fenders on both sides and destroying the brush guard. i would have been better off w/o it and let my factory steel bumper take the hit. i would have been able to drive off, not have my radiator destroyed and steaming and unaccessible (SIC?) b/c of said brush guard basically cramping my hood shut.

the tail light guards screw in where the tailgate meets the lights. then are 'attached' on the side w/ double side velcro (so you can remove them for off roading, as i discovered). on a tight trail while hunting, a branch snagged on and it peeled back like a tin-can lid. right into the tailgate and bent the guard completely, bent my tailgate and the trim out of shape and cracked the light housing while it was at it.

YOU DO WHATEVER YOU WANT, BECAUSE I'VE MADE DECISIONS THAT OTHERS DON'T AGREE WITH TOO - don't come looking for advice and expect everyone to have the opinion you want support for (my wife does this all the time to her chagrin) . that said, i thought i'd share my actual experience with these. the ONLY people i've ever crossed paths with that had them that didn't have a gripe, never went off pavement with them (front or rear guards) and never needed them for protection in a collision. do they look cool? sure - and they're an inexpensive way to make your truck look tougher than a bloated Highlander in car pool line. i thought the same when i put them on when i was 18. do i regret it and cringe every time i see them? yes.

I hate to jump into this party too.... but I've also had serious damage (that wouldn't have been there without the "guards").

Brush guard: DESTROYED the front end of my 4Runner, would have been way better off replacing simply a bumper. It basically acts as a mechanism to break things that aren't normally within the reach of what you're hitting... genius.

Tail light guards: Same old story, but mine were mounted with sheet metal screws between the tailgate and body, along with through the quarter panel of the rear fender. Snagged a branch on one side and it ripped back, pulling out my panel and leaving a gaping hole, breaking the tail light, and bending the edge of my tailgate.

The reality is that a sever shopping cart accident could cause damage to the things the tail light guards are supposed to "protect".

One more to the crowd here. Bought a previous 4Runner with tail light guards and a brush guard. Both caused paint damage to my 4R. I'll never touch the things again.

I expected this input. I am working on the looks mainly on the Land Cruiser at this point and have no intent to go off-road besides through pastures on the farm. With everyone hating the taillight guards on this site, I was hoping to find some folks wanting to get rid of them. Thank you all for the advice. With that being said, let's go back to what my post was asking: does anyone have some taillight guards for sale?
