I am hoping somebody here will be able to point me to a good link that talks about the best "infotainment" system upgrade, so to speak, for the 100 series. I am sure this topic must have been discussed before.

I have a 2000 models with the standard radio/cd changer. I am looking for tried and tested aftermarket options, in aesthetic keeping with the dignity of the 100 series, that would usher my LC into the current era with the newer navigation/bluetooth/audio-streaming/,p3 creature comforts that most of us are accustomed to now.

I am located in Phoenix, AZ, would appreciate suggestions for local shops that do this sort of upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

I have no personal experience with these installers but a couple I have read good reviews from in your area are linked below. Since they are highly regarded I doubt they will be the cheapest.

I just replied to a similar post with what I did in my 2000 Land Cruiser without Navigation.

Me too! I want to add s Carplay/Android Auto head unit to my 2001 LC. Lots of units available on Amazon, but I’m also interested in what wiring harness and din adapter I might need. Has anyone out there done their own install or can recommend a YouTube video?

Depends on the year and if it is a toyota or a lexus. I just went through an odyssey upgrading my 1998 jdm landcruiser. It’s easiest if you don’t have factory navigation and climate controls are analog. I ended up buying a head unit from T’eyes, but if I were to do it again I’d just get a generic fyt head unit since my truck had manual a/c controls. It also doesn’t have obdii or steering wheel controls. If you buy a generic unit or like me a head unit that there isn’t existing harness for you’ll need something like a metra harness. The hardest part for me was finding a mounting solution =. Apparently old jdm landcruisers are closest to old lexuses.

I put this one into my 1999:

It works great. The only problem though is that the location of the stereo wasn't designed for a touch screen. So there is some glare on the screen from the sun. Also, it's a bit inconvenient to look at for navigation. But it does work and hooks up to carplay, bluetooth etc.

I did finally find something on YouTube which looks like will work for me, and ordered a Head Unit with the required RCA jacks for the factory amp. Here's the link:

I love the guys wood look trim! Mine is a much grittier look :)

When you got the head unit in place how did you connect it to the existing wiring? Is is plug and play with no need for factory amp? Did you have to connect 17 different wires from new harness to exisitng? I have yet to find anything that explains how to actually connect the carplay to the existing speakers and it work.

here is my installation of the Kendwood DMX1057XR, really happy with the results:
