100 series pads in 80's calipers

Yep! The pads last longer and they also provide more friction = better braking.

Keep in mind it is recommended that you replace/resurface rotors when you swap since the wear pattern for the 80 OEM pads is smaller and will impact the 100 series functionality.

Does anybody know if the 100 series pads work on a HDJ81?

That would depend on the year. If the vehicle uses 43512-60090 rotors and 47730-60060(61) and 47750-60060(61) calipers, yes.

Can anyone show me picture or what area of the 100 pads need to be cut? Is this hard or easy job to cut? And how do you cut it with?

Thanks

cut?
Its a bit tight, but def should fit. Just remove the anti squeal.

Easy job. Put them in for a thousand miles or so, and it will become very clear which part to cut out. Take a dremel with a cutting wheel and you'll have them trimmed up in no time.

I've done this and didn't cut anything on my 94. The rotors were good, replaced recently so I didn't even have them turned. I used Ceramic ones from Autozone, with lifetime warranty. Somebody else had gotten them and really liked them, and I have to admit that they are doing great. Man, when you need the brakes and they heat up quickly and you stop on a dime. It's way better than any braking I've gotten from stock pads. Toyota pads were my favorite, but when I found these, cheaper, with lifetime warranty, so when they wear out, I just will get A/Z to replace them for free. Seems like a win win to me.

almosts finished with my 2nd set of 100 pads, definately a required mod. ive never had to cut anything either just remove the squel shims mentioned by others

So it is a simple swap?

I have a '94 which I plan to replace the rotors, calipers and pads on. Should I use stock rotors and calipers and get 100 series pads, or is there a better set up since I am replacing other parts anyway?

I've new stock rotors, new 100 series pads but same set of calipers and they work great. Although I cannot compare new for new, I can brake with more confidence.

Do these fit an FJ80 or just FZJ80? I have a 91.

I was at the local dealer today to buy replacement brake pads for my 80. I bought a set of the 100 pads also just to see what the fit was like. Tight fit, no way with the anti squel shims. So here I am to see what the deal is, and its answered for me today, no shims it is. Is this forum geat or what?

I have read that the 100-Series pads can be made to work on the FJ80 but *a lot* of the pad thickness has to be removed. Those that did it still commented on the better performance. YMMV.

In my opinion, you should first try the stock pads from a '97 FZJ80.
