100 series pads and new OEM rotors (5 Viewers)

This last weekend I finished up my Birfield job and topped it off with 100 series pads and new rotors. The pads fit fairly snuggly but I did notice that when I retracted the pistons, the first two I did seemed to extend a little so I had to push them back a second time and they went in roughly a sixteenth of an inch. Just one more thing to check if you are having problems installing the 100 series pads. Maybe the last piston you retract can apply enough pressure to slightly extend the pistons you previously retracted. My Toyota is 94.

Matt (phatairman) and I both did our cruisers with 100 series (60220) pads and new rotors last weekend.
We found that it took quite a bit of coercing to get the caliper pistons to retract, but once fully retracted (using the mechanical advantage of the wedge-aka pointy chit found in the garage that could be banged in there) in 4 out of 4 cases we had no trouble slipping the caliper on the rotor.

how hard is it to change the rotors on a 97 fj80? ive changed rotors on my 98 4runner and that was easy as pie, had to take off the caliper and the rotor slid right out. is it any different on the fj80? also where can i get the best deals on rotors/pads?

I just did my 80's rotors and pads on Monday....piece of cake...skip the shims on the 100 pads and it squeezes on.

it IS more work than the 'runner, since you have to remove the hub to take the rotor off...rear is a 15 minute job, including jack time...lol

all my parts came from cruiserdan at American Toyota (http://www.ih8mud.com/ads.php for his banner, be sure ya mention 'MUD) He'll know exactlee what ya need.

A large slip-joint pliers squeezing on the old pads will compress the pistons nicely...and a turkey baster in the master cylinder is a fast/easy way to remove the fluid that will overflow if you don't...lol
