BTW the 2003+ EFI Fuse also feeds the injectors easily accounting for the extra rating.

Pre 2003+ the EFI fuse also feeds the Vapor Pressure Sensor and Fuel Pump ECU.

The areas I would look at are:

- EFI Relay
- Pressure Sensor and Evap Can
- Fuel Pump ECU Ground
- Immobilizer where key issues are present

It sure is great having access to your guys technical expertise. If I was retired with plenty of time instead of overworked with a wife and home to take care of I would probably do that. But I think I will inspect and maybe tweak the fuse connectors and install a 25 amp fuse and drive it and see what happens with my jumper wire handy in case it doesn't work. Thanks again for everyone's input.

I am going to order a new EFI relay and a gas cap just for good measure.

That's a good start, IMO. It certainly falls within the cheapest first framework. From talking to mechanics more skilled than I, their consistent recommendation was that if it was difficult to diagnose with absolute certainty, then the safest thing to do is replace the EFI relay.

The confusing part of my situation is that the symptoms have included the following:
-Failure to start
-Burnt out fuse
-Died while driving

And the successful method to obtain consistent re-starts has been:
-Unplug gas cap
-Wiggle EFI relay
-Clean contacts for all fuses and relays with Electronic cleaner suggested by others(see Home Depot). Luckily, my LC is starting and fully operational with no noticeable erros. If I have ANY more problems, I'm going in the following order:

- Pressure Sensor and Evap Can
- Fuel Pump ECU Ground
- Immobilizer where key issues are present

Oh, and buy that electronic cleaner, you'll notice things that just need to be scrubbed a bit and it will give you piece of mind.
Also, in the interest of full disclosure, I have a new starter and my battery is strong, so I was able to safely rule that out.

Happened to me 3 times...3rd time I noticed the security light still blinking, even when using the master key. Tried a new fuse, tried disconnecting battery, nothing. Realized the previous 2 times it started again after I was sitting in the truck listening to the radio, waiting for a tow. Tried turning the key to on and leaving it for 10-15 minutes, it started up right away with the security light finally off. Just my 2 cents.

Ok, mine has gone back to not starting. I'm convinced at this point it's a combo of fuel pump and the fact it's been 103 the past week.

i didnt know this was such a serious problem until blatant notified me in a different thread. Ive also heard from somewhere else, I think it was murf or one of his techs, that sometimes the bottom of the fuse/relay block can get burned out or corroded as such, which would make sense with the fuse/EFI relay problems. And on top of that, as it gets hot outside, things heat up/ expand etc...

Mine was shoddy work. The o2 sensor I replaced a few months ago had been wired incorrectly.

Now that it's corrected, it seems to have gone away..

well, update on my no start problem. I replaced EFI relay and installed a 30 amp EFI fuse and it failed almost immediately. Reinstalled the jumper wire and it's ok again. The issue is definitely not the EFI relay. I feel I need to pull the main fuse-relay box and examine it carefully underneath.

Yes, trying keep up with all the treads on this topic. It's getting confusing remembering which one I last commented on. I still think this should be a Toyota recall issue.

Hard for me to say, but there are certainly a good lot of us having trouble!

Update. 20K + later after initial post, all good.

My Tlc had a no start issue. Problem was a loose wiring harness connection located at top right of serpentine belt location. But my MAF and throttlebody got cleaned trying to troubleshoot. Also ordered at EFI relay that I hope I never need. Hoping this may be where my parasitic draw issue may be coming from will find out soon. This thread was very useful and saved me a pile of cash no tow or stealersship fees. THANKS a IH8mud!!!!!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I've recently bought a '02 LC 4500 straight inline 6 cylinder and unlike many of you with no startup issue, my LC infact dies while driving randomly but it does come back to life like after 2 seconds. Upon closer inspection, I see the efi fuse culprit cause when ever I touch the fuse it dies. Also the efi fuse looks different compared to other fuses in box (I think it's broken). I've highlighted the fuse in the picture.
Would appreciate your help.
