Pretty exited to install my mid pipes tonight. I'm half way through the job now, but I've come to a roadblock. Looks like my Lexus (and possibly Toyota) went to a screw on O2 sensor vs a flange style O2 sensor that the EMS midpipe is setup for, in my '06 LX470.

Kinda bummed that I won't finish it tonight.

Most straight forward fix is possibly a 'toyota O2 adapter' flange like this:

baktasht, got any suggestions? I was half hoping to find the adapter in the box but didn't turn up anything.

The answer to the question about the O2 sensor mounting is the only thing keeping me from ordering the mid-pipes and cat-back.

Just placed my order for the cat back with the changeable tip option and the mid pipes with two cats per. Looking forward to getting the parts.

what made you pick two cats per? thats whats holding me up. Not sure if 1 cat will pass the sniffer test

I've been debating on wether or not to get ANY cats! I don't have to pass emissions in my state...

Thanks Kirk and baktasht for the conversations

I ordered mid pipes and the cat back system with no silencer and the standard output. I had the 45 deg angle on my 80 when I did a custom exhaust and it made it much louder in the cab bouncing off the pavement below.

1 cat might pass sniffer, but you won't pass visual if they check. That is a hit and miss situation.

Christo, thanks to your wonderful SKID plate, they can't see the CATs :D I just did emissions last week and they never bothered to look

Happy to help!

Christo's skid plates are on my short list too. In fact, I have a whole bunch of things from Christo, that are on my short list.

Hmm, I guess it's not a short list.

Prepare for drone without any cats. I ordered them with no cats and later regretted it.

Recently installed my EMS Cat-back. Everything bolted up extremely easy and I think there's even more clearance from my Slee belly pan than there was with the stock exhaust.

Any sound clips guys? I really want one but want it to be a lot quieter than what people are reporting.

This is the $399 dollar question that needs answering. The EMS sound clips on youtube aren't enough.

Mine should be installed late next week so I will try to make some audio clips if I have time next weekend. Any suggestions where to put iphone inside/outside vehicle? I ordered mine with $90 silencer option against bakhtash's suggestion. I bet exhaust sounds fine if you like to hear your exhaust. Since I am constantly running from the police I didn't want to be any more conspicuous even though I lose 4-6% performance gains (about 1/3rd of what the exhaust is supposed to add by my calculations). I imagine with SC exhaust might be louder because of more air flow?

I would like to dyno my vehicle with super charger + exhaust but won't have a stock baseline dyno. If I have time I will do another dyno to see what the addition of the EMS headers does when they come out. I am hoping to set boost to 9-10 psi but am a bit worried how the rig will handle at 100 mph. In Chicago most our roads are mostly straight (because of great chicago fire of 1871) but once in awhile I go into a bend too hard at 90 mph and the LX gets too tipsy. I don't race my LX I am just a speed freak who doesn't like driving under 80 mph anywhere. :steer:

On a side note I am visiting Saudi Arabia and I am in Land Cruiser heaven. Man I am sooo jealous of the rigs they have here! The cops all drive old 2 door 1980 land cruisers and they still look new. Even the 200 has started growing on me, I might replace one of my other cars with one. When I get back Im ordering that Land Cruiser legend book off amazon to educate myself better on older models (even though Im not a big fan of non airbag cars).

Assuming you have a stock rig, you can easily do 100 without the supercharger. The 100-series LC handles fine @ 100 mph- provided your alignment, wheel balance, brakes, and sway bars are good.

I imagine the 5 spd transmission in 2003+ models is even better at high speed.
I have the 4 spd and run close to 4000rpm at 100 mph.

+1

I'd like to hear what 2 cats and a silencer sounds like...

I'm ordering 2 cats when EMS finishes their headers

It handles fine until you hit a major bend in the road and then the car starts to get tipsy through a high speed curve. It has more to do with handling than engine performance.

Sorry, no sound clip, but I have the exhaust and midpipes (1 cat per) on my '06. With the windows down it's annoyingly loud from 1800-2300 RPM, with the windows up at it's annoyingly loud from 1900-2100 RPM (I'm 32 and add exhausts to nearly all of my vehicles, so I'm used to loud) - my normal gear change is at right around 2000, so it's 'annoying' often, but I've changed my driving style to avoid that RPM change as much as possible.

I'll also add that I've had issues with 420 and 430 codes since day one. When they respond, EMS has been helpful, but I've had a number of emails go unanswered. I've put in new 02 sensors on both banks, and checked fitment (both me and my mechanic) several times, but I'm still throwing the same codes, which leads me to believe that it's the cats. I'm at the point that I'm about to swap my OEM's back on and send these back to EMS. I know they sell a ton of these midpipes, and according to an email back in May they've never had an issue with a 'bad cat,' so maybe I'm the outlier, but I've been running a CEL for 3 months, and have spent hundreds on new O2 sensors...unfortunately I think the answer at this point is obvious.
