Hi all, first time posting on here, have had this 100 series for a couple of months now and the abs light has come on, chucked a code reader on it and it came up with c1225 (open or short in hydraulic brake booster solenoid circuit) From what I’ve read this usually means a new abs ecu, my question is where is it! It’s a right hand drive model. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Abs ECU is in the foot well right by the brake pedal. It's about the size of two decks of cards and is attached with two nuts, right in front of where the brake master cylinder to the firewall.
I'm not familiar with if that code means the ECU is bad. But you could test it with someone's ECU from a local club if you have one.
I have posted on another thread but here goes here - for 6 weeks I have been getting ABS and Brake warning lights and alarm - however brakes are working fine and whenever I remove the ABS ECU overnight it resets and hence no alarm for another few days -- I am suspecting a fault in the ECU and apparently everything else checks out and No Fault codes at all - repeat no fault codes are thrown up at all.
Question is - is there a way to disable the annoying alarm sound -

Did removing the middle plug work for you long term?
I'm considering removing mine. I don't get the alarm, but I get the ABS and handbrake light flashing sometimes when I use brakes, putting out a code 54 which is Pressure Switch Malfunction.
I assume that's the abs not able to work but the brakes feel fine.

Anyone know if the ECUs are the same across all models? They seem to be from my parts searching on line. I have a 2007 and 1998, and the one in my 1998 is bad, i think (getting a C1225 code). I'll report back when i pull both out later today.

I've never check P/N for the ABS ECU, as never seen one bad. I doubt 89-99 the same as 00-07. 89-99 have only 1 brake line to rear, 00-07 have two. You'll know, when you look at yours 98 & 07 for P/N on the ECU.
Typically with a C1225 we also see other DTC pending or current.
FWIW: I don't unplug or plug in, most any electronic, without first disconnecting battery negative post.
First and foremost: Brakes should only be worked by those, with high level of mechanical abilities and experienced with brake systems. With the age of all 100 series today, in our aging fleet. Any issue, with brake master assembly. IMHO, best and safest course of action. Have the whole brake...
The c1225 abs fault is for the SA1 circuit. If you throw a meter at the pin out on the abs module/pump you'll find an open circuit in 1 of the 6 pins. Highly doubt that replacing the abs ecu will solve the problem.
With key off and the connector disconnected you should normally find continuity in all 6 pins regardless of which 2 are being metered.
But, if SA1 or SA2 faults are present you'll likely find that the first and or second pin is dead.
