Anyone know where to get a rear wind deflector inexpensive?

I am reffering to the one for the 80 of course the toyota one and how much should i be expect to pay? I always wanted one but i never wanted to drill holes in the truck

The rear one or the sunroof one?

The rear one is a rust monster. The sunroof one just looks silly.

Skip them all and buy a skidplate! :)

refeering to the rear tail gate one. Is there another way besides making holes?

No. Too heavy to stick it on as it will be pulled off by wind.

I would highly suggest that you forget about it. I believe many other will echo me on this one.

The holes you have to make will rust...period. Water gets in from the seams on the top of the hatch and hits those holes from the inside and you will spend mucho dinero to fix it once it happens.

I have two 80s, one with and one without deflectors. I would agree the sunroof deflector is a waste. The rear deflector is not if you live in snowy or even really dusty climates. On gravel roads my 94 rear window stays pretty clean. My 91 the dust sits on it. Same for snow. And it will blow off pretty decent amounts of snow once up to about 45 mph. Mine is factory and rust doesn't seem to be an issue, but I don't live in an area where rust is a real concern. And the factory might have better seals than the home mechanic???

this weekend I removed the factory roof rack, still trying to repair its leftovers, never thought taking off something so simple would take 2 weekends, also debating taking off the rear wind deflector, I removed the wing itself and there is a noticeable diffrence in the way water acts on the back glass but I prefer the look without it, If I do keep it I am going to seal the base better with black RTV, the OEM is just sealed on with sticky foam tape, water can also get past the 2 screws, the feet are fading might paint them and the wing wile they are off

if mine did not already have the 4 holes in the gate I would never install one

I have a windshield wiper and a pisser back there to take care of dust and water :)

I've installed a new OEM one on my truck the first month I bought it. I used RTV on the four holes that I drilled (hardest, heart-popping task). From what I can tell, there's no way water could get to the holes as there is a thick seal on each of the deflector's feet. It's very helpful keeping the water and dust out of my hatch.

Frank.

Where did you run into so much trouble? I've got a hate on for my rack and I'm wanting to lose it but I'm wondering where you hit the snags? Thanks, Greg.

The snag usually is with the nutserts. When you turn the screws, the nutserts go round and round in their holes without the screws ever loosening up. Removing the headliner to access the backside of the nutsert is a headache. What's the solution?

thank you all for helping out much appreciated

if any does want to sell his or hers let me know

thanks guys
